Burke girls, James Valley Christian boys win titles at Lezlie Blasius Memorial meet

KIMBALL — The Burke girls and James Valley Christian boys won team titles at Friday’s Lezlie Blasius Memorial track and field meet.

The Burke girls piled up 141.5 points, ahead of second-place James Valley Christian (79). Mount Vernon/Plankinton (73) and Kimball/White Lake (73) tied for third place.

The JVC boys posted 88 points, finishing ahead of Kimball/White Lake (79) and Burke (65). 

In girls action, Burke’s Piper Hanson won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.17), edging out MVP’s Reagan Rus (:15.34). 

In the 300-meter hurdles, Rus captured a first-place finish (:47.00) and Hanson placed second at :48.01. 

Hanson ran the anchor leg on the winning 800-meter relay (1:49.78) and placed second in the high jump (5-0). 

Burke’s Daytona Paris won the triple jump (32-7.5) and placed second in the long jump (14-11.25) 

Burke’s Paige Bull won the discus (121-2). 

MVP’s Berkeley Engelland won the 100-meter dash (:12.61) and 800-meter run (2:12.48). MVP’s Abigail Engelland earned a first-place finish in the 3,200-meter run (12:28.55). 

KWL’s Kaitlyn Priebe was a double winner in the 200-meter dash (:28.36) and 400-meter dash (1:04.04). She added a third-place finish in the long jump (14-7.75). 

KWL’s Lily Baker placed second in the 800-meter run (2:26.18) and placed second in the 1,600-meter run (5:30.21). KWL’s Autumn Baker won the 1,600-meter run (5:20.28).

Wessington Springs’ Avery Orth won the shot put with a Class B-leading toss of 40-8. 

Avon’s Courtney Sees placed first in the long jump (17-3) and teammate Lila Vanderlei placed first in the javelin (108-8). 

MVP’s Makenzie Hetland won the high jump (5-3). 

The Corsica-Stickney girls won the 1,600-meter relay (4:21.76) and sprint medley relay (4:32.75). 

The Winner girls won the 400-meter relay (:52.10)  

The JVC girls won the 3,200-meter relay (11:43.31). 

In boys action, JVC’s Dax Frandsen won the 400-meter dash (:52.35) and placed third in the 800-meter run (2:09.47). Frandsen also ran the anchor leg on the winning 800-meter relay (1:36.31). 

Burke’s Reed Benter won the 300-meter hurdles (:45.08) and was on the winning 400-meter relay (:46.71). Burke’s Iker Diaz Montilla won the high jump (6-3) and was also on the winning 400-meter relay. 

KWL’s Daniel Leiferman (2:02.19) and Park Sinclair (2:08.16) placed first and second, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Sinclair added a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter run (4:51.42). 

Kadoka Area’s Lincoln Koehn earned first-place finishes in the shot put (49-5.5), discus (163-7) and placed third in the javelin (134-1). 

Kimball/White Lake’s Lincoln Kranig won the 200-meter dash (:23.90) and placed third in the 100-meter dash (:11.70). 

MVP’s Riley Mayer won the triple jump (39-6) and was on the winning 1,600-meter relay (3:38.03). 

Avon’s Aziah Meyer won the 100-meter dash (:11.61) and long jump (21-1). 

Colome’s Joseph Laprath won the 3,200-meter run (10:50.99) 

Winner’s Austin Blare won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.89) 

The Winner boys won the 3,200-meter relay (8:48.37) and sprint medley relay (3:42.65).
