Burke volleyball wins Arlington tournament

ARLINGTON — Class B No. 4 Burke won the Arlington volleyball tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The Cougars knocked off No. 2 Warner (25-19, 25-27, 25-11), Arlington (25-11, 27-25), Elkton-Lake Benton (25-14, 25-21), Deubrook Area (25-20, 25-10) and Faulkton Area (27-25, 25-11).

Against Warner, Burke’s Kailee Frank had nine kills and added 12 kills against Elkton-Lake Benton. Emmie Hausmann posted four aces against Warner, while Kyrie Matucha had 17 digs and Paige Bull had four blocks. 

Kailee Frank finished with nine kills against Arlington and 12 kills against Elkton-Lake Benton. Hausmann added 10 kills against Faulkton Area and Matucha had 17 digs. Hausmann added nine kills in the win over Deubrook.


No. 1 Chester wins Big East Conference title

SALEM — Class B No. 1 Chester won the Big East Conference title on Saturday. 

The Flyers defeated Baltic (25-15, 25-17, 25-16) in the title match. Lily Vanhal had 11 kills and 20 assists for the Flyers in the win. Emilie Bleeker had nine total blocks, while Emmerson Eppard had four aces.

Hitchcock-Tulare claims Clark/Willow Lake tourney title 

CLARK — Class B No. 3 Hitchcock-Tulare won the Clark/Willow Lake tournament on Saturday.

The Patriots beat Waverly-South Shore (25-8, 25-7), Wilmot (25-11, 25-15), Clark/Willow Lake (25-18, 25-18) and De Smet (25-6, 25-16). 

Against De Smet, Katelyn Schroeder finished with 10 digs, seven kills and seven aces. Ella Johnson added four kills. Gracyn Bixler and Lila Johnson had eight assists apiece. Cambree Hoekman added 10 digs.
