RAPID CITY — Behind three state champions and overall team depth the Canton wrestling team etched their name deeper into the record books with a sixth consecutive championship. 

Canton amassed 163.5 points, ahead of Winner Area (126.5) and Brawlers (126). Custer (119) and McCook Central/Montrose (112.5) rounded out the top-five. 

Ayson Rice (145), Tanner Meyers (195) and Traun Cook (285) all won titles for the C-Hawks. 

Winner Area was in 5th place after Thursday’s quarterfinals but the Warriors had two champions in Riley Orel (160) and Jack Kruger (182) while clawing their way back to a 2nd place finish. 

Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall Badlands Brawlers brothers Jace Blasius (138) and Burke Blasius (170) both won championships for the Brawlers. 

Other individual titles were claimed by Redfield’s Brady Risetter (106), Custer’s Tray Weiss (113), Wagner’s Karstyn Lhotak (120), Miller/Highmore-Harrold’s Kellan Hurd, Burke/Gregory’s Owen Hansen (132) and Mobridge-Pollock’s Aiden Schoenhard. 

Burke/Gregory’s Owen Hansen won a third consecutive state title and was named the outstanding Class B wrestler of the tournament.
