Class 11A Playoff Preview - Rapid City Christian, Sioux Falls Christian set for rematch in quarterfinal round

Sioux Falls Christian is the last undefeated team standing in Class 11A.

The Chargers (9-0) have secured the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Rapid City Christian (6-3) in the opening round of the playoffs. Sioux Falls Christian defeated Rapid City Christian, 41-22, on Sept. 6. 

The Chargers are coming off their closest game of the season, a 22-20 decision over Dakota Valley. Sioux Falls Christian is averaging 36.4 points per game and is allowing 9.4 points per game on defense. 

The Comets began its first season in Class 11A with three straight losses against Canton (20-16), Sioux Falls Christian (41-22) and Dell Rapids (40-24). Rapid City Christian rattled off six straight victories to close out the regular season. The Comets are averaging 36 points per game and are allowing 15.2 points per game on defense. 

No. 2 Dell Rapids (7-2) hosts No. 7 Dakota Valley (5-4). The teams played in the season opener, a 22-14 Dakota Valley victory. Dell Rapids, which won the last two Class 11A state championships, won six straight victories after the loss to Dakota Valley. The Quarriers lost to Sioux Falls Christian, 21-0, and defeated Lennox, 26-12, in their regular-season finale. Dell Rapids averages 31.6 points per game and allows 14.1 points per game on defense.

Dakota Valley is coming off a 22-20 loss against Sioux Falls Christian. The Panthers have alternated wins and losses the past six weeks. 

The Panthers score 25.4 points per game and surrender 18.2 points per game on defense. 

No. 3 Lennox (7-2) hosts No. 6 Canton (4-5) and it’s the second meeting this season between the Dak-XII Conference teams. Lennox defeated Canton, 44-16, on Oct. 4. The Orioles are scoring 37.1 points per game and are allowing 17.4 points per game on defense. 

Canton began the season with a 3-0 record, but lost five of its last six games to finish the regular season. 

Canton scores 21.9 points per game and allows 37.2 points per game on defense. 

No. 4 West Central (6-3) hosts No. 5 Madison (6-3) in the first meeting this season between the teams. West Central enters the postseason with a three-game winning streak. The Trojans’ three defeats are against Sioux Falls Christian (42-13), Lennox (40-28) and Dell Rapids (26-0). 

West Central scores 35.7 points per game and allows 20.1 points per game on defense. 

Madison is coming off a 34-6 win over Milbank in the regular-season finale. Madison scores 27.2 points per game and gives up 19 points per game on defense.
