Sioux Falls Christian 66, Groton Area 41

SIOUX FALLS — Top-seeded Sioux Falls Christian cruised to a quarterfinal victory over Groton Area at the Class A boys state basketball tournament Thursday. The Chargers will face Lennox Friday night at 6 p.m. in the state semifinals.

Brandt Wassenaar led all scorers with 17 points, Britton Mulder added 12 points, Griffen Goodbary recorded a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, while Cole Snyder tallied seven points, five assists and four rebounds in the win.

GA’s Ryder Johnson and Karson Zak each tallied 13 points in the loss while Keegan Tracy netted eight points, five rebounds and three assists in the loss. The Tigers will face West Central in the consolation semifinals Friday at 12 p.m.


Lennox 51, West Central 43

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack powered Lennox to a quarterfinal victory over West Central during Thursday’s Class A quarterfinal action. The Orioles will face Sioux Falls Christian in the state semifinals Friday at 6 p.m.

Tate Gerdes led the Orioles with 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Teegan Musser added 11 points and four rebounds, Aiden Hanssen tallied eight points, while Layton Smith, Boston Katzer and Talen Eich each recorded six points in the win.

WC’s Will Kuhl had 12 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals in the loss, while Connor Mebius totaled 12 points and six rebounds as well. The Trojans will take on Groton Area Friday at 12 p.m. in the consolation semifinals.


Hamlin 82, Hill City 43

SIOUX FALLS — Five players reach double figures as Hamlin defeated Hill City during Thursday’s quarterfinal action at the Class A state tournament. The Chargers will take on Rapid City Christian or Clark-Willow Lake at 7:45 p.m. Friday in the state semifinals.

Dawson Noem led the Chargers with 18 points and eight rebounds, Easton Nuendorf totaled 13 points and 10 assists, Evan Stormo tallied 13 points and five rebounds, Jackson Wadsworth had 13 points and four assists, Boden Stevenson collected 12 points and four rebounds, while Zac Van Meeteren totaled eight points, eight rebounds and four assists in the win.

Hill City’s Devin Buehler led the Rangers with 17 points while Zane Messick added 16 points and five rebounds in the loss. The Rangers will take on Rapid City Christian or Clark-Willow Lake Friday at 1:45 p.m. Friday in the consolation semifinals.
