Mount Vernon Plankinton’s Berkelley Engelland is having another brilliant track season. 

The future University of South Dakota runner has South Dakota’s fastest times in the 400-meter dash(:55.62) and 800-meter run (2:12.82). 

Through the first few weeks of the outdoor season Engelland has the fifth fastest Class A time in the 100-meter dash (:12.74) and second fastest Class A time in the 200-meter dash (:25.76). 

Several marks for track fans to keep track of with Engelland. She has the third fastest 400-meter time in South Dakota history (:54.96, 2023) and the third fastest 800-meter run in South Dakota history (2:10.78). Brandon Valley’s Krista Bickley has the state record in the 400-meter dash (:54.08, 2016). Former Watertown runner Kay Stormo has the state record in the 800-meter run (2:07.90, 1978).
