SIOUX FALLS — Not many No. 8 seeds have won seven straight state tournaments. But that’s exactly the case for No. 8 seed Sioux Falls Christian this season.

The Chargers dropped 12 matches this season, but finds itself back at the Class A state tournament and as a dangerous No. 8 seed. 

The seven-time defending champs will play No. 1 Miller at 11 a.m. to kickoff the Class A state volleyball tournament at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. 

In other first-round matches, No. 4 Dakota Valley plays No. 5 Mount Vernon/Plankinton, No. 2 Hamlin plays No. 7 Sioux Valley and No. 3 Dell Rapids plays No. 6 Winner. 

Here are capsules on all eight of the Class A state volleyball tournament teams:


No. 1 Miller (28-1)

Coach: Linda DeBoer

No. 8 Sioux Falls Christian (25-12)

No. 4 Dakota Valley (29-5)

No. 5 Mount Vernon/Plankinton (27-5)
