Sioux Falls Christian 3, Dell Rapids 1

RAPID CITY — Defending Class A champion Sioux Falls Christian knocked off Dell Rapids in four sets on Friday at the Class A state volleyball tournament. The set scores were 25-15, 25-16, 24-26 and 25-11. 

Sidney Oostra led Sioux Falls Christian with 18 kills and added three assists, an ace and 15 digs. Taylor Byl had 15 kills and added four aces, a solo block and four assisted blocks. Katelyn Maas had 11 kills, a dig and two block assists while Addisen Barber had six 46 assists, six kills and fourteen digs. Lavin Maddox had six assists and finished with 15 digs. 

Madelynn Henry led Dell Rapids with 13 kills and added three assists, an ace, eight digs and two assisted blocks. Lauryn Kloth delivered 10 kills and a dig while Sophi Randall had 28 assists, nine kills, 10 digs and an assisted block. 

Rapid City Christian 3, Miller 0

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Christian advanced to the Class A state championship with a straight sets win over Miller in Friday’s semifinals of the Class A state volleyball tournament. The set scores were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-14.

Ana Egge led the Comets with 18 kills while adding three aces, seven digs and a solo block. Paisley Griffith finished with two assists, an ace and five digs while Lydia Williams had three kills and a dig. Sophie DeWitt had 15 digs and an ace while Faith King had a kill, three assists, 11 digs and three assisted blocks.

For Miller, Jolie Palmer finished with 13 kills. Aleah Schlechter added 10 kills and five digs. Paige Werdel added six kills, while Shaylee Anderberg added five kills and seven digs. Journey Palmer posted nine digs. Heather Resel recorded 24 assists. 

Platte-Geddes 3, Lennox 0

RAPID CITY — Platte-Geddes swept Lennox in Class A state volleyball tournament action on Friday. The set scores were 25-23, 25-14 and 25-23. 

Platte-Geddes’ Cadence VanZee finished with 14 kills and nine digs. Karly VanDerWerff added 13 kills and 12 digs. Kori VanDerWerff recorded nine kills. Halle Sprik posted 11 digs. Hadley Hanson added nine digs, while Baleigh Nachtigal logged 37 assists and six digs. Karly VanDerWerff and Kori VanDerWerff posted two block assists apiece.

For Lennox, Dani Highum recorded 18 kills and five digs. Carli Kuyper posted seven kills and four digs. Ashlee Sweeter finished with 11 digs. Andie Peters posted eight digs. Lillian Meyer logged 16 assists and Ella Grengs added 14 assists.  


Dakota Valley 3, Wagner 0

RAPID CITY — Dakota Valley defeated Wagner in straight sets Friday at the Class AA state tournament in Rapid City.  The Panthers advance to Saturday’s Consolation Championship where they will take on Platte-Geddes. The set scores were 25-19, 25-17 and 29-27. 

Sophie Tuttle powered Dakota Valley with 16 kills, two aces, 17 digs and an assisted block. Jaycee Squier got the offense into rhythm with 24 assists, an ace, two digs and an assisted block. Claire Munch finished with nine kills, two aces and 24 digs. 

Macy Koupal led Wagner with eight kills, 23 assists and 15 digs. Ashlyn Koupal had a team-leading nine kills while adding two assists, 11 digs and an assisted block. Kya Kjeldgaard finished with eight kills, three assists and an ace with Shona Kocer adding six kills, a assist and an ace for Wagner.
