Class A Volleyball Roundup - Sioux Falls Christian captures seventh straight state championship
Sioux Falls Christian celebrates its Class A championship after defeating Rapid City Christian in four sets Saturday at the Summit Arena in Rapid City.

Sioux Falls Christian 3, Rapid City Christian 1

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Christian defeated Rapid City Christian in four sets Saturday at the Class A state volleyball tournament. This is the seventh consecutive year the Chargers won the Class A state championship. The set scores were 25-18, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-14. 

Taylor Byl led the Chargers with 19 kills, an assist, a dig and two block assists. Sydney Oostra had 15 kills, two assists and four aces to go along with 21 digs, a solo block and a block assist. Addisen Barber had three kills, 46 assists, four digs and four block assists. Brietta Tims had nine kills and six digs and Tavyn Sichmeller finished with four kills, 11 assists and a solo block a while Lavin Maddox closed out her career with 24 digs. Chloe Eberhad six kills and ten digs

Ana Egge led Rapid City Christian with 22 digs to go along with an assist and a block assist. Faith King dished out 33 assists, 14 digs and two block assists while Sophie DeWitt had an ace and four assists. aces, an assists and Lydia Williams had five kills and three digs. 


Dell Rapids 3, Miller 0

RAPID CITY — Dell Rapids swept Miller and earned third place at the Class A state volleyball tournament on Saturday. The set scores were 25-15, 25-20 and 25-21.

Dell Rapids’ Madelynn Henry recorded 12 kills and eight digs. Lauryn Kloth added 10 kills. Sophi Randall posted 22 assists, 13 digs and seven kills. Alaina Wolff logged 14 digs. Kaylee Fiddelke and Karlie Ingalls had nine digs apiece.

For Miller, Aleah Schlechter had seven kills and eight digs. Paige Werdel added five kills and two digs. Jolie Palmer had 15 digs and Heather Resel posted 10 digs and 21 assists. 


Dakota Valley 3, Platte-Geddes 1

RAPID CITY — Dakota Valley closed their season by defeating Platte-Geddes in four games and finished fifth at the Class A state tournament. The set scores were 23-25, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-16. 

Claire Munch led Dakota Valley with 17 kills, two aces and 16 digs. Sophie Tuttle added 15 kills, an assist and 10 digs. Bria Perryman dished out 29 assists while having two aces and six digs. Samatha Kimbell added 12 kills with one assist and one block assist. Reagan Granstrom had six assists and 15 digs while Cameron Sommervold had eight kills and three digs. 

Cadence Van Zee led Platte-Geddes with 19 kills while adding an assist, two aces and ten digs. Karly VanDerWerff finished with 11 kills, nine digs and a solo block. Baleigh Nachtigal dished out 39 assists and had five digs. Kori VanDerWerff finished with 12 kills and three digs while Hadley Hanson had two kills, three aces and 15 digs 


Wagner 3, Lennox 0

RAPID CITY — Wagner swept Lennox to earn seventh place at the Class A state volleyball tournament on Saturday. The set scores were 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18.

Wagner’s Kya Kjeldgaard recorded 12 kills and 15 digs. Macy Koupal posted 31 assists, 11 digs and four kills. Ashlyn Koupal tallied nine kills and four digs. Braxton Nedved added six digs. Shona Kocer posted eight kills and four digs. 

Lennox’s Dani Highum had seven kills and 13 digs. Carli Kuyper had eight kills. Libby Kranz posted seven kills and Ella Grengs added five kills and 15 assists. Andie Peters posted 12 digs and Lillian Meyer had 14 assists. Ashlee Sweeter finished with five digs.
