GARRETSON — Colman Egan’s Christopher Lee won the 100-meter dash (:11.21) and finished second in the 200-meter dash (:23.76) to highlight action at Saturday’s Jesse James track and field meet in Garretson. 

The Tri-Valley boys were the top South Dakota team scoring 96 points, ahead of Chester (77) and Baltic (70). St. Mary’s (68.5) and Garretson (61) rounded out the top five South Dakota boys teams. 

The Deubrook Area girls were the top South Dakota team scoring 84 points, ahead of Tri-Valley (76.5) and Baltic (76). Chester (60) and Colman-Egan (56) rounded out the top five South Dakota girls teams. 

The Tri-Valley boys picked up victories from Ty Oyen in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.80). Oyen teamed with Corven Jensen, Brechen Frederick and Owen Effling to win the 400-meter relay (:45.50) and teamed with Effling, Landyn Reiser and Jensen to win the 800-meter relay (1:36.41). The Mustangs also won the 1,600-meter relay (3:45.35).

Other South Dakota winners on the boys side were Baltic’s Henry Anderson in the 200-meter dash (:23.75), Garretson’s Carter Siemonsma in the 800-meter run (2:09.45) and Parker’s Michael Even in the 300-meter hurdles (:44.67).

Chester’s JD Prorok won the javelin (124-10), Viborg Hurley’s Andrew Madson won the high jump (6-00), Chester’s Ben Dougan won the long jump (18-09) and St. Mary’s sophomore Jaxon Baumberger won the triple jump (37-07). 

The Baltic foursome of Henry Anderson, Dylan Runestad, Cooper Garry and Ben Erickson won the sprint medley relay (3:54.76). 

In girls action Parker’s Braelyn Berens won the 100-meter dash (:12.43) and 200-meter dash (:27.11) and anchored the 400-meter relay to a win (:51.68). Parker’s Jenna Van Velzen won the high jump (4-10). 

Deubrook Area’s Kylee Johnson won the 400-meter dash (1:00.94) and 800-meter run (2:29.65).  Johnson also anchored the winning 3,200-meter relay (10:51.10).

Other winners for the girls were Chester’s Emmerson Eppard in the 3,200-meter run (12:45.68), Tri-Valley’s Emry Jones in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.62) and Peyton Vogt in the 300-meter hurdles (:50.27), St. Mary’s Maddyn LeBrun (108-05) in the discus, Tri-Valley’s Kadence Davey in the javelin (114-08) and Baltic’s Daynica Witzel in the long jump (15-04.5).
