Custer senior Kincade Lehman opened his oudoor season with a massive personal best in the triple jump at an outdoor meet in Newcastle, Wyoming on March 27.

Lehman, the defending Class A state  44-10.75, won the triple jump in Newcastle with a leap of 46-08.25. That jump broke the Custer school record (45-9 set by Matt Lyndoe in 2003).

The South Dakota state record in the triple jump is held by Bud Hamilton of Hot Sprints (47-11.50) in 1991. Lehman's leap puts him just outside of the top-ten in South Dakota with Paul Hendry of Rapid City Stevens (46-10, 1986) currently holding the No. 10 jump in state history.
