Custer's Kincade Lehman soars to state record in triple jump at Douglas Early Bird meet
Custer's Kincade Lehman makes his mark in the sand to set a new state record in the boys' triple jump with a leap of 48 feet and 7.25 inches during the Douglas Early Bird track meet on Tuesday at Dave Broadie Field at Patriot Stadium in Box Elder.

DOUGLAS — Custer senior Kincade Lehman broke the state record in the triple jump at Tuesday’s Douglas Early Bird meet. Lehman jumped 48-07.25, breaking the previous mark held by Bud Hamilton of Hot Springs (47-11.5) set in 1991. 

Lehman also won the long jump Tuesday with a jump of 22-09.75. 

In a mix of Class AA, Class A and Class B schools, the Philip boys stood out. 

Evan Kroetch was a double winner claiming the shot put (48-08) and discus (148-04). The Scotties also picked up wins from David McKinley in the 400-meter dash (:52.79) and Jack Peterson in the 3,200-meter run (10:05.11). 

Rapid City Stevens junior Jack Day was a double winner, winning the 110-meter hurdles (:15.03) and 300-meter hurdles (:40.48). Day teamed with Liam LaCarruba, JonPaul Sullivan and Marcus Kuehl to win the 400-meter relay for the Raiders (:43.24). Rapid City Stevens had a big day on the track with Marcus Kuehl winning the 200-meter dash (:23.60), Miles Brekhus winning the 800-meter run (1:55.70) and Tate Van Beek winning the 1,600-meter run (4:29.64). 

Other event winners for the boys came from Custer’s Danny Immormino in the 100-meter dash, Custer’s Roland Sedlacek in the javelin (158-05), Rapid City Central’s Braedon Isler in the high jump (6-00) and Sturgis’ Manny Jaramillo in the pole vault (11-06). 

The Custer girls had a solid day with Jordyn Larsen winning the 100-meter dash (:12.21) and 200-meter dash (:26.33). Larsen teamed with Kelsey Stiefel, Jayda Bennett and Sienna Schultz to win the 1,600-meter relay (4:17.28). 

Other winners for Custer came from Jayda Bennett in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.62), Karyn Ellerton won the shot put  (34-07) and discus (126-00) and Ciana Stiefel won the pole vault (12-00). 

The Rapid City Stevens girls had a number of winners that included Avery Dormann in the 800-meter run (2:21.24), Brinna Sheldon in the 1,600-meter run (5:23.40), Sylvia Mortimer in the 300-meter hurdles (:48.88), Brienna Brewer in the javelin (120-00) and Peyton Dockter in the triple jump (32-00.5). The Raiders won the 400-meter relay (:48.59) and the 800-meter relay (1:49.77). 

Sturgis had a trio of winners as Iris Zylstra won the 400-meter dash (1:02.38), Danice Dschaak in the high jump (5-00) and Avery Marler in the long jump (17-04.25). 

Belle Fourche won the 3,200-meter relay (10:55.61) and Douglas junior Kira Ubence won the 3,200-meter run (11:42.72).
