Custer boys, Lakota Tech girls claim titles at Bill Young Invitational

CUSTER — The Custer boys and Lakota Tech girls wrestling teams each captured titles at Friday’s Bill Young Invitational. 

The Custer boys racked up 221 points, ahead of the Sturgis JV (209) and Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood (195). Burke/Gregory (145) and Spearfish (144) rounded out the top-five team finishers. 

The Lakota Tech girls scored 144 points, ahead of Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood (103) and Custer (73). Hot Springs 65 and Hill City (55) rounded out the top-five girls team finishers. 

The Custer boys won five individual titles with Tyler Trant (113), Tray Weiss (126), Kian Rusch (138), Ryder Bailey (190) and Zayne Severyn (285) all winning championships. 

The Sturgis junior varsity claimed three titles, Jake Price (120), Cade Willnerd (150) and Preston Ray (165). 

Hot Springs had a pair of champions in Hunter Kunz (175) and Caleb Rickenbach (215). 

Spearfish’s Parker Graveman won the (132) title, Lakota Tech’s Zaniyan Iron Eyes won at (144) and Aiden Russell of Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood won the title at (157). 

The Lakota Tech girls had five individual champions as Brandy Marshall (114), Lakota Rodgers (126), Jessica Waln (132), Giada Scherich (138) and Chloe Fire Thunder (165) all reached the top spot on the podium. 

Other individual titles were claimed by Annalee Pierson of Sturgis (100), Savannah Rondell of Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood (107), Addie Sander (120), Sarah Rickenbach of Hot Springs (145), Alieana Brewer of Pine Ridge (152), Keely Mogen-Frankfort (185) and Jessica McKenney of Custer (285).
