CLARK — Kingsbury County had two individual champions on their way to winning Saturday’s Clark/Willow Lake WBC wrestling tournament. 

Kingsbury County racked up 171 points, ahead of Faulkton Area (157.5) and Canton JV (148.5). Webster Area (129) and Clark/Willow Lake (128.5) rounded out the top-five team finishers. 

Clark/Willow Lake led the way with four individual champions as Cade Gaikowski (113), Cooper Pommer (120), Elliot Bratland (165) and Josh Kannegeiter (190) all reached the top spot on the podium.

Faulkton Area won three titles, all in the upper weights. Drake Mueller (190), Tristen Baloun (215) and Parker Bode (285) all won titles. The Canton junior varsity also had three titles with Chase Adam (132), Ayson Rice (150) and Aidan Kranz (157) each winning titles.

Kingsbury County had two champions, Cody Zell (126) and Conner Giedd (144). Webster Area also won two titles with Tayton Kurkowski (106) and Haeden Jorgenson (138).

The other individual winner went to Daniel Mason of the Pierre junior varsity (90-98).

West Central grapplers take title at Rider Invitational

SIOUX FALLS — The West Central wrestling team wrapped up a successful first week of the season by winning the Rider Invitational in Sioux Falls on Saturday. 

West Central racked up 290.5 points, ahead of Sioux Falls Jefferson (194) and Sioux Falls Lincoln (186). O’Gorman (173) and Vermillion (121) rounded out the top-five team finishers.

The Trojans picked up four titles with Kaden Haakinsonk (106), Bentley Klinkhammer (113), Chandler Carda (165) and Gavin Pischke (285) each winning championships. 

Sioux Falls Jefferson had three individual champions, Aidan Wells (126), Graham Wilde (132) and Ayden Dooley (150) all winning titles. 

Sioux Falls Lincoln had two champions, Josiah Kauffman (120) and Turner Gordon (138). Vermillion also had two champions in Michael Roob (157) and Rollie French (215).
Other individual champions went to Sioux Falls Washington’s Lane Knutson (190), O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan (175) and Lennox’s Ramsey Williams. 

Madison wrestlers win title at Flandreau Booster Club Invitational

FLANDREAU — Behind four individual champions the Madison wrestlers captured the team title at Saturday’s Flandreau Booster Club Invitational. 

The Bulldogs scored 215.5 points, ahead of Luverne, MN (118) and Deuel (97). Elk Point-Jefferson (94) and Flandreau (82) rounded out the top-five teams.

Madison’s champions were Wyatt Pickard (120), Carter Downs (126), Caleb Hodges (144) and Cole Klingbile (215). 

Sioux Valley had two champions in Owen Vandeweerd (285) and Tate Steffensen (132). 

Howard had two champions in Jackson Remmers (175) and Dawson Remmers (190).

Deuel’s two champions were Gavin Kloos (150) and Jaxon Quail (157). 

Elk Point-Jefferson had two champions in Owen Rigg (138) and Hayes Johnson (165).
