Dell Rapids blanks Rapid City Christian, advances to Class B semifinals

SIOUX FALLS — Jack Henry and Drake Eastman combined to blank the Rapid City Christian, 8-0, advancing to Saturday’s Class B semifinal for the fourth year in a row.

Despite two separate weather delays during the game, Dell Rapids looked as sharp as every in their shutout victory.

Henry, the Class B player of the year, started the game on the mound for the Quarriers throwing just one inning, Henry gave up just one hit while striking out another in 13 pitches.

After jumping out to a two run lead in the home half of the first, Dell Rapids and coach Daniel Miller elected to take Henry off the mound in order to save his pitching for Day 2.

The Quarriers continued to build their lead, adding one run in each of the next four innings before exploding for three runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach

Eastman was dominant on the mound for Dell Rapids, giving up just four hits and two walks in the final six innings while striking out nine batters.

Henry and Mason Stubbe were dominant at the plate in the win, with Henry batting 2-for-3 with a walk while Stubbe batted 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Cole Ruesink added 2 RBIs on a double and a walk, While Treyse Eastman, Lincoln Fersdahl, and Sutton Williams each tallied hits in the win.

For Rapid City Christian, Micaiah Griffith took the loss on the mound, allowing eight hits, three walks, and five earned runs in four innings pitched. Simon Kieffer surrendered one hit, three walks, and three runs in the loss as well.

Simon Kieffer, Benson Kieffer, Jackson Winter, Trevor Wilcox, and Sully Kieffer each collected hits in the loss.

Rapid City Christian ends their season with a record of 9-8.

Dell Rapids advances to the State B semifinals at noon Saturday where it will take on Parkston/Ethan/Tripp.
