Hanson 59, Platte-Geddes 39

SALEM — Hanson outscored Platte-Geddes 30-9 in the second half to pull away for a boys basketball win at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

The Beavers were led by Noah Price with 18 points, four assists, and three steals, while Ethan Cheeseman recorded 13 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Kade Waldera tallied 11 points and five rebounds, while Luke Haiar added 10 points, four assists, and three steals.

PG was led by Caden Foxley with a game-high 19 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. Hayes Rabenberg added nine points.


Wolsey-Wessington 52, McCook Central/Montrose 36

SALEM — Wolsey-Wessington picked up a boys basketball win over McCook Central/Montrose at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Jemetrius Scott finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Payson Gohn and Carson Zomer each tallied nine points. Gohn also grabbed nine boards, while Zomer recorded six steals, five boards, and three assists. Tate French added eight points and seven boards.

MCM’s Boston Katzer finished with a game-high 15 points and four steals, while Cody Miles added nine points, four steals, and three assists.

SALEM — Gregory edged Bridgewater-Emery for a boys basketball win at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Daniel Mitchell led the Gorillas with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Songer added 17 points.

BE’s Sutton Arend scored 14 points and seven rebounds, while Camdyn Stoterau tallied 12 points. Sam Hofer added six points and five rebounds.

Lower Brule 75, Freeman Academy/Marion 60

SALEM — Class B No. 3 Lower Brule used a balanced scoring attack to pull away from Freeman Academy/Marion for a boys basketball at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Lower Brule’s Keshaume Thigh finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Brian LaRoche Jr., added 10 points, while Ellwyn Langdeau and Trevin McBride scored 11 points apiece. McBride added eight rebounds. Gavin Thigh had nine points, four rebounds and four assists. 

FAM’s Thalen Schroeder finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Quincy Blue logged 16 points and six rebounds. Connor Epp added 14 points and six rebounds. Matthew Hagen finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

White River 61, Canistota 50

SALEM — Class B No. 2 White River used a 22-10 third quarter to pull away from Canistota for a boys basketball win at Saturday’s DWU/Culver’s Classic. 

Joe Sayler led the Tigers with 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Dylan Marshall added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Nicolas Marshall and Kendrell Cuevas scored 10 points apiece. Cuevas grabbed 10 boards. Dylan Marshall added five rebounds and four assists. Gavin Folkers finished with five points, seven rebounds and four assists. 

Canistota’s Brandon Kjetland recorded 20 points and five rebounds. Tage Ortman followed with 19 points and five boards. Tye Merrill posted five points. Isiah Robertson and Brady Scott grabbed five rebounds apiece. 


Waubay/Summit 56, Lyman 39

SALEM — Waubay/Summit pulled away in the fourth quarter to pick up a boys basketball win over Lyman at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

The Mustangs were led by Jonathan Johnston with a game-high 21 points and six rebounds, while Damon Opdahl recorded a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds, along with six steals. J Gulbraa added 11 points, six rebounds, and four steals.

Lyman’s Toby Estes scored 14 points, while Isaac Thomas tallied nine points and Colton Collins added eight points. Stockton McClanahan grabbed eight rebounds.


St. Thomas More 52, Dell Rapids 41

SALEM — Caleb Hollenbeck and Cade Kandolin combined for 29 points to lead Class A No. 2 St. Thomas More to a boys basketball win over Dell Rapids at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Hollenbeck scored a game-high 15 points and seven rebounds, while Kandolin recorded 14 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Ian Clewley and Jordan Uhlir each added eight points. Uhlir also grabbed seven rebounds.

Dell Rapids was led by Jack Henry with 13 points and six rebounds. Landon Ruesink chipped in eight points, while Brayden Pankonen and Camden Justice each added six points.


Potter County 83, Viborg-Hurley 55

SALEM — Grant Luikens and Cooper Logan combined for 55 points as Class B No. 5 Potter County pulled away from Viborg-Hurley in a boys basketball game at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Luikens finished with 30 points and five rebounds, while Logan recorded 25 points and nine rebounds. Logan also scored his 1,000th career point. Drake Bassett tallied 15 points and four steals, while Seth Sharp added eight points and 10 rebounds.

VH was led by Blake Schroedermeier with 23 points and three steals, including seven three-pointers. Hayden Gilbert added 18 points.


Ipswich 58, Wilmot 45

IPSWICH — Three players scored in double figures as Ipswich picked up a boys basketball win over Wilmot on Saturday.

Ipswich’s Ian Beyers scored 17 points, while Taylor Thorson tallied 14 points and five rebounds. Trevor Beyers recorded 11 points and four steals, while Trevor Heinz added six points. Ty Kadlec dished out six assists.

Wilmot’s Trey Jurgens poured in a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds, while Dennis Creadon added 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals.


Deubrook Area 68, Chester Area 57

CHESTER — Deubrook Area outlasted Chester Area for a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Deubrook Area’s Nick Bowne scored 17 points, while Parker Crooks added 15 points.

Chester Area’s Stratton Eppard scored 21 points, while Ashton Olivier added 14 points. Ryan Benson contributed five rebounds and five assists.


Tri-Valley 66, Milbank 57 (OT)

COLTON — Tri-Valley outscored Milbank 12-3 in overtime to secure a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Tri-Valley’s Cory McDonald scored a game-high 31 points, while Lane DeWitt had 13 points.

Milbank’s Garrett Mertens scored 19 points and Bennett Schwenn added 18 points. 


Castlewood 72, Hitchcock-Tulare 36

HITCHCOCK — Four players scored in double figures as Castlewood raced past Hithcock-Tulare for a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Tristan Nielsen scored 20 points, while Jackson Schofield tallied 13 points. Lane Tvedt recorded 12 points and Bryon Laue added 11 points.

HT’s Jed Waldner scored six points, while Jack Boomsma tallied five points. Kyle Hamilton, Jackson Maynard, and Erik Salmen each added four points.


Ethan 60, Menno 40

MENNO — Riley Endres and Kaden Klumb combined for 27 points to pace Ethan to a boys basketball win over Menno on Saturday.

Endres finished with 16 points, while Klumb added 11 points. Jay Storm netted nine points. 

Menno’s Hayden McNinch recorded 11 points and 14 rebounds. Tyler Massey added 10 points and eight rebounds. 


Girls basketball

Ethan 53, Menno 38

MENNO — Three players scored in double figures as Ethan pulled away from Menno for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Hannah Bartscher and Ava Lingemann each scored 15 points and seven assists. Bartscher also grabbed 10 rebounds. Bella Nesheim added 13 points and five rebounds.

For Menno, Grace Nusz scored nine points, while Ashton Massey tallied seven points. Bridget Vaith and Layne Schmidt added five points each. Vaith also collected 13 rebounds.


Castlewood 69, Hitchcock-Tulare 33

HITCHCOCK — Maddie Horn and Mackenzie Everson combined for 42 points as Castlewood picked up a girls basketball win over Hitchcock-Tulare on Saturday.

Horn and Everson finished with 21 points and seven rebounds apiece. Presley Knecht added 13 points.

HT was led by Katelyn Schroeder with 16 points and 10 rebounds.


Deubrook Area 68, Chester Area 56

CHESTER — Deubrook Area outlasted Chester Area in a girls basketball game on Saturday.

Deubrook Area’s Skyla Peterson scored 19 points, while Emma Vandermeer added 16 points. 

Chester Area’s Emery Larson scored 25 points, while Emmerson Eppard added 13 points and three steals. Kaylor Geraets and Carly Becker each grabbed seven rebounds.


Garretson 56, Elkton-Lake Benton 27

GARRETSON — Garretson used a 22-6 fourth quarter to pull away from Elkton-Lake Benton in a girls basketball game on Saturday.

Garretson’s Jaelyn Benson scored 15 points, while Logan Bly tallied eight points, six rebounds, and three assists. Lily Ranschau added seven points. Jordyn Williams had six steals.

ELB’s Tevan Erickson scored nine points, 10 rebounds, and six steals, while Rachael Krog added seven points.

 

Florence/Henry 62, Wolsey-Wessington 58

WARNER — Florence/Henry edged Wolsey-Wessington in a girls basketball game at the Warner Classic on Saturday.

Caylin Kelly led all scorers with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and seven steals, while Taylor Watson tallied 17 points. Trinity Watson added 10 points.

Wolsey-Wessington was led by Leah Williams with 20 points, while Hailey Clarke recorded 12 points. Mya Boomsma chipped in 10 points, while Taylor Horn added seven points.


Tri-Valley 46, Milbank 36

COLTON — Tri-Valley broke away from a 20-20 halftime tie for a girls basketball win on Saturday. 

Paige Jewett and Lauren Grinde led the Tri-Valley with 15 points apiece. 

Milbank’s Maurina Street scored 15 points and Isabella Anderson scored 13 points. 


Brandon Valley 46, Sioux Falls Lincoln 40

BRANDON — Class AA No. 5 Brandon Valley outlasted Sioux Falls Lincoln for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

BV’s Hilary Behrens scored 18 points, while Sidney Thue added eight points.

The Patriots were led by Addie Fawcett with 15 points. Mariah Siem and Alicen Honner added eight and seven points, respectively.


Rapid City Stevens 48, Harrisburg 38

HARRISBURG — Class AA No. 3 Rapid City Stevens outlasted Harrisburg in a girls basketball game on Saturday.

The Raiders were led by Taaliyah Porter and Macey Wathen with 13 points apiece.

Harrisburg was led by Hannah Eide and Emilee Boyer with 13 points each.
