Girls basketball 

White River 70, St. Francis 26

ST. FRANCIS — Maleighya Estes scored her 2,000th career point as Class B No. 5 White River picked up a girls basketball win over St. Francis Indian on Monday. She’s the 32nd girls basketball player in state history to reach the milestone. 

Estes finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Rhea Tucker added 10 points for the Tigers. 


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 51, James Valley Christian 48 (OT)

FORESTBURG — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket outlasted James Valley Christian in overtime in a girls basketball game on Monday.

SCW’s Liz Boschee scored 16 points, while Teya Moody tallied 13 points and five assists. Trinity Boschee recorded 11 points and three steals, while Trista White added nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Brooke Doering grabbed 11 rebounds.

JVC’s Alexa Goertz scored 15 points and four steals, while Karilyn Wieting tallied 14 points. Brenna Held recorded nine points and eight rebounds, while Kaylie Robinson added eight points, eight rebounds, and five steals.


De Smet 58, Canistota 26

CANISTOTA — Class B No. 2 De Smet used a 23-9 second quarter to put away Canistota in girls basketball action on Monday. 

Kennadi Buchholz led the Bulldogs with 27 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Emma Albrecht added nine pints, seven rebounds and five assists. Jada Burke recorded seven points and three assists, while Alyssa Asleson posted six points. Jacie McCune finished with five points. 

Canistota’s Kayla Papendick scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds. Ellie Becker had eight points. Natalie Becker grabbed eight rebounds. 


Warner 54, Britton-Hecla 33

BRITTON — Warner raced past Britton-Hecla in a girls basketball game on Monday.

Ava Nilsson led the Monarchs with 13 points, while Kyra Marcuson tallied 11 points. Jennifer Aman and Kamryn Anderson each added nine points.

BH’s Sterling Brassfield scored eight points.


Dell Rapid St. Mary 70, Lake Preston 38

LAKE PRESTON — Dell Rapids St. Mary rolled past Lake Preston for a girls basketball win on Monday. 

Madala Hanson led the Cardinals with 17 points, while Courtney Brown added 12 points. Ella Griffin finished with 11 points and Brianna Griffin scored nine points. Addison Libis scored six points and Addyson Gilbert netted five points.

Lake Preston’s Hadlee Holt scored 13 points and Faith Steffenson tossed in nine points. Marissa Rober scored eight points, while Ava Malone added seven points. 


Hanson 66, Beresford 43

BERESFORD — Five players scored in double figures to lift Hanson to a girls basketball win over Beresford on Monday. 

Annalyse Weber led the Beavers with 16 points, while Alyssa Moschell recorded 14 points. Vanessa Doyle scored 12 points. Kylie Haiar and Eliza Oltmanns scored 11 points apiece. 

Beresford’s Ella Merriman tossed in 21 points, while Kara Niles finished with 10 points. 


Hankinson, N.D., 50, Wilmot 35

WILMOT — Hankinson, N.D. picked up a girls basketball win over Wilmot on Monday.

Wilmot’s Madeline Remund scored 14 points, while Marissa Getzlaff added seven points.


Boys basketball

Hankinson, N.D., 67, Wilmot 61

WILMOT — Wilmot’s Trey Jurgens tossed in a game-high 34 points and scored his 1,000th career point against Hankinson, North Dakota on Monday. 

Parker Steege and Brayden Ebben scored nine points apiece. Dennis Creadon scored six points. 

Hankinson’s Cruz Hernandez finished with 23 points. 


Tiospa Zina 63, Aberdeen Roncalli 38

TIOSPA ZINA — Tiospa Zina cruised past Aberdeen Roncalli for a boys basketball win on Monday.

Jasiah Red Bear led the Wambdi with 11 points, while Perry Lufkins recorded 10 points. Reondre Greeley chipped in nine points, while Devin Long Crow added eight points.

The Cavaliers were led by Keegan Stewart and Maddox May with 11 points apiece. 


Parkston 71, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 34

NEW HOLLAND — Parkston jumped out to a 23-4 first-quarter lead en route to a boys basketball win over Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Monday. 

Cole Prunty led the Trojans with 21 points, while Gordon Seppala added 15 points and 12 boards. Will Jodozi had 13 points. Luke Borman had seven assists and five steals, while Brayden Jervik recorded five assists and seven steals.

ACDC’s Rizon Clark scored 15 points, while Cameron Sybesma had eight points and seven rebounds. Jacob Mudder scored five points. Julius Bruguier added seven rebounds and Tate Timmermans grabbed six boards. 


Potter County 70, Leola/Frederick Area 36

FREDERICK — Class B No. 5 Potter County coasted past Leola/Frederick Area for a boys basketball win on Monday. 

Noah Kippley led the Titans with nine points, while Mason Hinz and Brayden Sumption scored five points apiece. 


Warner 59, Britton-Hecla 28

BRITTON — Warner picked up a boys basketball win over Britton-Hecla on Monday.

Warner’s Brodey Sauerwein scored 13 points, while Sam Nilsson tallied 12 points. Levi Scepaniak recorded nine points, while Peyton Jung added eight points.

BH was led by Aidan Fredrickson and Ashton Mills with six points apiece.


Elkton-Lake Benton 55, Baltic 37

LAKE BENTON — Elkton-Lake Benton raced past Baltic for a boys basketball win on Monday.

The Elks were led by Miles Harming with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Logan Kuehl  chipped in 12 points. Ryan Krog scored nine points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Aiden Erickson added seven points and seven assists.

Baltic’s Gunner Schultz scored 12 points, while Corbin Wirkus added 11 points.
