Hamlin's Gracelyn Leiseth to compete in World U20 Track and Field Championships in Peru
Former Hamlin standout and University of Florida sophomore Gracelyn Leiseth will be contesting the shot put and discus at the U20 World Track and Field Championships in Lima, Peru.

LIMA, Peru —- Former Hamlin High School standout and South Dakota state record holder in the shot put and discus Gracelyn Leiseth is competing in the World U20 Track and Field Championships this week. 

Leiseth, who is a sophomore at the University of Florida, is one of 39 women selected as part of Team USA to compete in shot put and discus at the world championships. Leiseth set personal bests in the shot put (58-1) and discus and discus (178-0) and was a second-team All-American during her freshman season at Florida.

Team USA captured 15 medals at the 2022 edition of the Championships, including seven golds, the most by any country. 

The World U20 championships take place Aug. 27-31 and will be held at the Estadio de la Videna in Lima, Peru.
