Harrisburg volleyball cracks MaxPreps top-25 ranking

HARRISBURG — Class AA powerhouse Harrisburg has cracked this week’s MaxPreps top-25 high school volleyball rankings. The Tigers check in at No. 24 this week and are one of three new teams in this week’s rankings. 

The Tigers have won two straight Class AA state championships and have won 64 consecutive matches overall. 

Harrisburg (17-0) won the SkyHawk Invite title on Oct. 12 in Nebraska. The Tigers beat Kansas power Saint Thomas Aquinas (2-1) to headline the tourney run. 

Harrisburg also earned wins over Blue Valley Northwest (Overland Park, Kansas), Oak Park-River Forest (Oak Park, Illinois) and host Skutt Catholic (Omaha, Nebraska).

Junior Gabi Zachariasen has 217 kills, while freshman setter Josalyn Samuels has 489 assists. Senior libero Maggie Meister has 335 digs.
