Colome 60, Jones County 57 (OT)

MURDO — Colome outlasted Jones County in overtime during Friday’s Jones County Invitational. 

Colome’s Joseph Laprath tossed in 24 points, including 18 in the first half. Brayden Seegers netted 12 points, while Eli Vobr added nine points. Alec Thieman scored five points. 

Jones County’s Carter Iversen scored 15 points, while Chastin Tollakson added 13 points. Cooper Feddersen scored nine points, while Jett Nix and Noah Karg scored seven points apiece. Gunnar Whitney added five points. 

Colome plays Kadoka Area for the consolation championship on Saturday. Jones County will not play a game on Saturday, as Bennett County was forced to pull out of the tourney due to COVID issues.

White River 75, Philip 52

MURDO — Class B No. 2 White River advanced to its 18th straight Jones County Invitational championship game on Friday. 

The Tigers, who have won 15 of the last 16 JCI titles, defeated Philip by a 75-52 score in the semifinals. Dylan Marshall paced the Tigers with 25 points, while Joe Sayler added 24 points. Kendrell Cuevas scored 10 points.

Philip’s Layton Terkildsen finished with 12 points, while Bryce Westby scored 11 points. Samuel Hand added nine points and Jesse Fillingim scored seven points. Lane Kuchenbecker scored five points.

Lyman 41, Stanley County 28 

MURDO — Lyman held Stanley County in check en route to a boys basketball victory at the Jones County Invitational on Friday. 

Sam McClanahan led Lyman with 12 points, while Jacob Sazue and Stockton McClanahan scored 10 points apiece. 

Stanley County, which managed just nine points in the second and third quarters, was led by Lathan Prince’s 14 points. Gavin Irving and Cormac Duffy scored five points apiece.

Thursday’s Games

Lyman 75, Colome 42

MURDO — Lyman jumped out to a 20-6 first-quarter lead and topped Colome at Thursday’s Jones County Invitational. 

Lyman’s Jacob Sazue scored 15 points to pace a balanced scoring attack. Colton Collins had 14 points, while Sam McClanahan finished with 12 points. Stockton McClanahan had 11 points, while Toby Estes and Ryker Choal had eight points apiece. Isaac Thomas scored seven points

Colome’s Eli Vobr finished with eight points, while Joseph Laprath added seven points. Alec Thieman had six points and Kaden Pechota added five points. 

 

Philip 44, Kadoka Area 35

MURDO — Philip’s 17-8 fourth quarter fueled a boys basketball win over Kadoka Area at Thursday’s Jones County Invitational. 

Philip’s Samuel Hand recorded 15 points, while Bryce Westby netted 13 points. Lane Kuchenbecker added five points. 

Kadoka Area’s Dawson Reckling scored 17 points and Kash Block netted nine points. Layne Palmer added six points. 


Stanley County 48, Jones County 25

MURDO — Stanley County used a 19-6 fourth quarter to put away Jones County at Thursday’s Jones County Invitational. 

Stanley County’s Lathan Prince posted 14 points, while Cormac Duffy tossed in 11 points. Stran Scott scored eight points and Gavin Irving had seven points. Daysen Titze had five points. 

Jones County’s Cooper Feddersen netted eight points and Chastin Tollakson scored five points.
