Gregory 64, Kimball/White Lake 29

GREGORY — Daniel Mitchell recorded his 1,000th career point in Gregory’s boys basketball win over Kimball/White Lake on Thursday.

Mitchell, who recorded the milestone early in the first quarter, scored a game-high 16 points. Jordan Songer netted 15 points, while Carson Klundt had 14 points. Rane Kenzy tossed in 10 points and Cole Serr scored seven points.

KWL’s Jaxon Christensen scored nine points, while Ryder Michalek and Dawson Miller scored eight points apiece. 


Hanson 61, Canistota 60

ALEXANDRIA — Ethan Cheeseman’s 3-pointer with two seconds left lifted Hanson to a boys basketball win over Canistota on Thursday. 

Cheeseman led the Beavers with 24 points and seven rebounds. Noah Price added 19 points. Luke Haiar dished out 12 assists and grabbed six rebounds. 

Canistota’s Isiah Robertson scored 19 points, while Tye Merrill added 14 points. Tage Ortman tossed in 12 points. 


Winner 56, Tri-Valley 50

WINNER — Class A No. 3 Winner held off Tri-Valley for a boys basketball win on Thursday. 

Blake Volmer led the Warriors with 14 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists. Slade Cournoyer added 12 points and four assists. Shawn Hammerbeck recorded nine points, while Ethan Bartels posted six points and eight rebounds. Kolbie Osborn scored five points. 

Tri-Valley’s Braden Oyen finished with 13 points, while Connor Christensen scored 12 points and grabbed eight boards. Noah Haynes posted 11 points, while Owen Besmer added five points and seven rebounds. 


Sioux Valley 79, Deubrook Area 56

VOLGA — Class A No. 5 Sioux Valley had four players score in double-figures to pick up a boys basketball win over Deubrook Area on Thursday.

Oliver Vincent led all scorers with 23 points and seven assists, while Hayden Ruesink tallied 20 points and eight rebounds. Patrick Carey had 14 points and Alec Squires added 12 points and seven boards.

The Dolphins were led by Andrew Trooien and Cooper Holmlund with 15 points apiece. Parker Crooks and Sutton Fritz added nine and eight points, respectively.


Howard 49, Bridgewater-Emery 42

EMERY — Howard held off Bridgewater-Emery for a boys basketball win on Thursday. 

Bridgewater-Emery’s Sam Hofer finished with 16 points and six assists. Aguer VanSickle added 10 points, while Sutton Arend added nine points and six rebounds. 

 

Freeman 56, Menno 27

FREEMAN — Freeman recorded its first win since Feb. 3, 2020 with a 29-point boys basketball win over Menno on Thursday. 

Freeman’s Ethan Balvin finished with 22 points, while Blake Rumelhart had 10 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots. Evan Scharberg had seven points and seven rebounds, while Bradey Kaufman and Tate Sorensen scored six points apiece.

Menno’s Tyler Massey scored 14 points and Hayden McNinch had eight points.


Avon 48, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 44

LAKE ANDES — Landon Thury and Lincoln Thury combined for 28 points and 15 rebounds to lift Avon to a boys basketball win over Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday.

Landon Thury finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Lincoln Thury added 10 points and seven rebounds. Kley Heumiller logged nine points and seven rebounds, while Eli Watchorn had nine points and five boards. 

ACDC’s Cameron Sybesma had a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double. Nolan Black Cloud logged 13 points, while Rizon Clark had eight points and seven rebounds. A.J. Johnson collected six rebounds.  


Leola/Frederick Area 48, Northwestern 42

FREDERICK — Leola/Frederick Area edged Northwestern in a Thursday boys basketball contest. 

Leola/Frederick Area’s Ethan Morlock scored 13 points, while Colton Spitzer and Hans Lapka scored nine points apiece. 


Ipswich 44, Faulkton Area 32

IPSWICH — Ipswich raced out to a 17-5 first quarter lead and picked up a boys basketball win over Faulkton Area on Thursday.

Ian Beyers scored 13 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor Thorson recorded 10 points and nine boards. Trevor Beyers tallied nine points and Carson Gohl added eight points and eight rebounds. Ty Kadlec dished out six assists.

The Trojans were led by Layne Cotton with 14 points. Hunter Niederbaumer grabbed 12 rebounds.


Elkton-Lake Benton 62, Colman-Egan 38

COLMAN — Elkton-Lake Benton used a 19-3 first quarter to pull away from Colman-Egan in a boys basketball game on Thursday.

Aiden Erickson led the Elks with 13 points, while Logan Kuehl scored 11 points and Isaac Jaacks tallied 10 points. Ryan Krog recorded eight points and Miles Harming grabbed nine boards.

CE’s Ben Zwart scored 11 points and Jase Mousel added nine points.


Arlington 63, Lake Preston 33

ARLINGTON — Arlington had three players record double-doubles as they raced past Lake Preston for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Ryker Erstad scored a game-high 21 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, while Britt Carlson tallied 12 points and 11 boards. Blake Madsen had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Caden Letsche added nine points and 11 rebounds, while Tommy Bacon recorded eight points.

The Divers were led by Josh McMasters with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Riley Casper added nine points. Jake Larsen grabbed nine boards.


Wolsey-Wessington 55, Wessington Springs 29

WOLSEY — Wolsey-Wessington had three players score in double-figures as they won the 281 Conference boys basketball tournament championship over Wessington Springs on Thursday.

Carson Zomer had a game-high 17 points, while Payson Gohn recorded 13 points, and Marrien Gohn tallied 12 points and eight rebounds. Jemetrius Scott added seven points.

The Spartans were led by Mason Schelske with 15 points, while Cade Mohling added six points.


Hitchcock-Tulare 60, James Valley Christian 56

HURON — Hitchcock-Tulare used a 15-7 second quarter to edge James Valley Christian for third place at the 281 Conference boys basketball tournament on Thursday. 

Kyle Hamilton led the Patriots with 18 points and seven rebounds. Jackson Maynard recorded 14 points and six rebounds. Jack Boomsma logged 10 points and five rebounds. Cole Schroeder added six points and T.J. Salmen scored five points. 

JVC’s Landon Wallman recorded 21 points, five 3-pointers and five rebounds. Landon Wager added 15 points and eight rebounds. Isaac Korell posted 11 points. 


Highmore-Harrold 47, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 32

HURON — Highmore-Harrold picked up a 15-point boys basketball win over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket for fifth place at the 281 Conference boys basketball tournament on Thursday. 

Trey Knox led the Pirates with 15 points and eight rebounds. Mason Knox added seven points and six rebounds. Carter Lamont scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds. 

SCW’s Tyce Slykhuis finished with 11 points, while Jeff Boschee added eight points and six rebounds. Brady Larson recorded six points and six rebounds. 


Iroquois/Doland 56, Sunshine Bible Academy 48

HURON — Iroquois/Doland outlasted Sunshine Bible Academy for seventh place at the 281 Conference boys basketball tournament on Thursday. 

Logan Peskey and Diego Prieto scored 17 points apiece for the Chiefs. Peskey nailed four 3-pointers. Teagan Mason added six points. 

SBA’s Nolan Triebwasser scored a game-high 23 points, while Daniel Gerbracht added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Owan Watson had sixWest assists, seven points and 13 rebounds. Parker Jones logged nine rebounds. 


West Central 66, Lennox 49

HARTFORD — Grafton Stroup and Dillon Jackson combined for 30 points as West Central picked up a boys basketball win over Lennox on Thursday.

Stroup recorded 18 points and Jackson had 12 points. Jack Linneman tallied nine points and Jacob Krempges added six points.

For Lennox, Jackson Arlt tallied 12 points, while Porter Ihnen and Carter Van Houten each contributed nine points. Connor Eich added eight points.


Deuel 81, Sisseton 58

CLEAR LAKE — Deuel had six players score in double-figures as they cruised past Sisseton for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Gavin Benck scored a team-high 18 points, Trey Maaland tallied 15 points, and Braydon Simon recorded 14 points. Ronnie Begalka netted 11 points and Naethan Lovre and Cooper Schiernbeck each added 10 points. Schiernbeck also dished out seven assists.

For Sisseton, Ty Langager recorded a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds, while Riley Bravebull tallied 15 points and Jarius Chanku added nine points.

White River 48, Gregory 47

WHITE RIVER — Lilly Krogman’s 3-pointer as time expired lifted Class B No. 4 White River to a girls basketball win over Gregory on Thursday. 

Maleighya Estes finished with 13 points and four rebounds, while Krogman added 11 points and six boards. Rhea Tucker logged eight points and five rebounds.


Corsica-Stickney 76, Ethan 50

CORSICA — Avery Broughton’s double-double lifted Class B No. 2 Corsica-Stickney to a girls basketball win over Ethan on Thursday. 

Broughton powered the Jaguars with 31 points, 17 rebounds and four assists. Rachel Gerlach added 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Casey Tolsma logged 10 points and seven boards. Morgan Clites added eight points, five assists and four rebounds. Sutten Eide dished out five assists. 

Ethan’s Hannah Bartscher recorded 17 points, while Bella Nesheim had nine points and seven rebounds. Ella Pollreisz logged eight points and five rebounds. Ava Lingemann added seven points, while Marissa Storm had five points. 


Avon 36, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 33

LAKE ANDES — Avon outlasted Andes Central/Dakota Christian for a girls basketball win on Thursday. 

Avon’s Tiffany Pelton posted 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Courtney Sees added 12 points and six rebounds. Samantha Brodeen had seven points and seven rebounds. Katie Gretschmann added five rebounds. 

ACDC’s Allison Muckey recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds. Lexie VanderPol added seven points and seven rebounds, while Mahpiyah Irving had six points. Josie Brouwer and Isabella Brouwer grabbed five boards apiece. 


Mobridge-Pollock 73, McLaughlin 21

MOBRIDGE — Landyn Henderson and Mariah Goehring combined for 34 points to pace Mobridge-Pollock to a boys basketball win over McLaughlin on Thursday. 

Henderson finished with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Goehring added 16 points. Emily Hatzenbuehler recorded eight and Reagan Weisbeck scored eight points. Kenna DeMarrias logged seven rebounds. 

McLaughlin’s Kimimila White Mountain finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Lakeitha Weasel added six points and six rebounds, while Mercedes Chase had five points and five boards. 


Colman-Egan 51, Elkton-Lake Benton 41

COLMAN — Colman-Egan picked up a girls basketball win over Elkton-Lake Benton on Thursday.

Lanie Mousel scored 16 points, Mackenzie Hemmer recorded 14 points, and Reese Luze added nine points and four steals.

For the Elks, Tevan Erickson tallied 11 points, Rachael Krog scored 10 points, and Kylie Ramlo added eight points and nine boards.


Arlington 70, Lake Preston 29

ARLINGTON — Arlington used a 20-1 third quarter to pull away from Lake Preston in a girls basketball game on Thursday.

Hadley Carlson had a game-high 24 points, seven rebounds, and six steals, while Addalyn Steffensen recorded 13 points and four steals. Harley Johnson and Grace Parry each tallied seven points, while Johnson also grabbed eight rebounds.

For the Divers, Hadlee Holt tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Faith Steffensen recorded six points and 10 rebounds. Marissa Rober also scored six points.


Florence/Henry 44, Estelline/Hendricks 39 (OT)

ESTELLINE — Florence/Henry edged Estelline/Hendricks in overtime to pick up a girls basketball win on Thursday.

F/H’s Caylin Kelly recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Taylor Watson tallied 12 points and four steals. Trinity Watson added nine points.

The Redhawks were led by Kenzy Beare with 14 points. Kate Wegner scored 11 points and Sadie Johnson added eight points.


Faulkton Area 54, Ipswich 27

IPSWICH — Faulkton Area outscored Ipswich 19-6 in the third quarter to pull away for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Shayna Heitmann scored 16 points and six assists, while Isabel Aesoph recorded a double-double of 10 points and 12 assists, while also adding seven rebounds and four steals.

For Ipswich, Quincy Olivier and Kaylin Onken each tallied eight points. Katie Bierman dished out six assists and had six steals, while Ashlyn Weig recorded five assists.


Parkston 60, Bon Homme 45

TYNDALL — Allison Ziebart and Abby Hohn combined for 40 points to power Parkston to a girls basketball win over Bon Homme on Thursday. 

Ziebart tossed in 21 points, while Hohn added 19 points for the Trojans. 

Bon Homme’s Jurni Vavruska had 19 points, three assists and three steals. Jaden Kortan added nine points, while Erin Heusinkveld grabbed seven rebounds. 


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 44, Wolsey-Wessington 31

HURON — Trinity Boschee and Trista White combined for 29 points to push Sanborn Central/Woonsocket past Wolsey-Wessington to win the championship at the 281 Conference girls basketball tournament on Thursday.

Boschee recorded 16 points, while White tallied 13 points. Liz Boschee added nine points.

For the Warbirds, Leah Williams scored a game-high 17 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Mya Boomsma added eight points and five boards.


James Valley Christian 38, Wessington Springs 31

HURON — James Valley Christian used a 12-2 third quarter to pull away from Wessington Springs for third place at the 281 Conference girls basketball tournament on Thursday.

Kaylie Robinson stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Brenna Held and Karilyn Wieting each scored eight points.

For the Spartans, Avery Orth tallied a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds


Highmore-Harrold 42, Hitchcock-Tulare 34

HURON — Highmore-Harrold pulled away from Hitchcock-Tulare for fifth place at the 281 Conference girls basketball tournament on Thursday. 

Letha Jessen led the Pirates with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Courtney Moser added 11 points, while Grace Knox added nine points and eight rebounds. Reghan Westcott grabbed six boards. 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Katelyn Schroeder scored 14 points and Cambree Hoekman added 12 points. Madison Hofer finished with eight rebounds. 


Iroquois/Doland 45, Sunshine Bible Academy 27

HURON — Iroquois/Doland topped Sunshine Bible Academy for seventh place at the 281 Conference girls basketball tournament on Thursday. 

Rebecca Bich led the win with 12 points and Katie Dubro added 10 points. 

SBA’s Jakki Burma added seven points and 11 rebounds. Lydia Lo scored six points, while Betra Amare had five points and four assists. Aja Paul and Annaliese Van Zee had seven rebounds apiece. Liza Konechne added five steals. 


Sioux Falls Jefferson 63, Harrisburg 52

HARRISBURG — Sioux Falls Jefferson had four players score in double-figures as they picked up a girls basketball win over Harrisburg on Thursday.

Taliyah Hayes recorded 16 points, while Cierra Watkins and Kassidy Larsen each scored 12 points. Jaidyn Dunn added 11 points.

For the Tigers, Abby Flanagan tallied 16 points and Emilee Boyer added 14 points.
