Boys basketball

Canistota 62, Little Wound 53

MADISON — Canistota picked up a boys basketball win over Little Wound at the DSU Classic on Saturday.

Brandon Kjetland scored 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Tye Merrill recorded 18 points and three steals. Isaiah Robertson tallied 16 points and five assists, while Tage Ortman added 10 points, four assists, and three steals.

For Little Wound, Dylan Cuny totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Trey Yellow Boy tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds. Wakiyan Cuny scored 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while Andres Dubray added seven points.

 

Tea Area 79, Clark/Willow Lake 51

MADISON — Cael Lundin poured in 41 points as Tea Area pulled away from Clark/Willow Lake for a boys basketball win at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday. Lundin also scored his 1,000th career point in the win.

Lundin added 11 rebounds for Tea Area, which used a 30-14 third quarter to pull away from the Cyclones. Reis Kirschenman added 11 points. Jonah Kocer, Jeff Worth and Sam Almas scored five points apiece. Almas added six rebounds. 

CWL’s Brady Jordan scored 12 points, while Tyler O’Neill and Trey Huber scored 10 points apiece. Noah Boykin added seven points. 


Madison 74, Redfield 47

MADISON — Madison’s 27-16 second quarter lifted it to a boys basketball win over Redfield at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday. 

Madison’s Aiden Jensen finished with 21 points and nine rebounds. Aspen Dahl added 15 points, while Nate Ricke recorded 11 points. Trey Smith finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while Ben Brooks had eight points and six rebounds. Mickale Dohrer added six points. 

Redfield’s Peyton Osborn had 18 points and four 3-pointers. Mitchell Mack added nine points and Jerron Haider logged six points. Nolan Gall and Justin Ratigan scored five points apiece, while Ratigan had seven rebounds. 


Elk Point-Jefferson 72, Hamlin 58

MADISON — Elk Point-Jefferson used a 28-19 second quarter to secure a boys basketball win over Hamlin at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

EPJ’s Easton Kempf led the way with 21 points and five rebounds. Landon Geary added 14 points and five rebounds, while Chace Fornia added 10 points and five boards. Garrett Merkley added six points and Canon Kempf had five rebounds.  

Hamlin’s Tyson Stevenson scored 22 points, while Brennan Keszler scored 17 points. Dawson Noem logged nine points. 


Sisseton 47, Tri-Valley 36

MADISON — Sisseton pulled away from Tri-Valley for a boys basketball win at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Sisseton’s Mikah Hamm had 14 points, while Ty Langager and Riley BraveBull scored nine points apiece. 

Tri-Valley’s Cory McDonald finished with 10 points and Noah Haynes added nine points. Lance DeWitt scored seven points. 


Canton 80, Webster Area 48

MADISON — Jacob Vande Weerd’s double-double helped lead Canton to a boys basketball win over Webster Area at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Vande Weerd recorded 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Matt Anderson scored 14 points and seven boards. Payton Eben tallied 12 points and Matt Langerock added nine points.

For the Bearcats, Jaydon Keller scored 17 points and six boards, while Jacob Pereboom added 14 points and six rebounds.


West Central 83, Parkston 35

MADISON — West Central made 11 3-pointers to help cruise past Parkston for a boys basketball win at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Grafton Stroup scored 18 points, while Jacob Krempges recorded nine points. Braden Dierickx and Mubarak Ibrahim each added eight points.

Parkston’s Will Jodozi scored 11 points, while Luke Bormann and Max Scott added seven and six points, respectively. 


Sioux Falls Christian 86, Deuel 55

MADISON — Sioux Falls Christian raced past Deuel for a boys basketball win at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Ethan Bruns scored 23 points for SFC.

Deuel was led by Trey Maaland with 22 points, while Gavin Benck scored 12 points. Braydon Simon tallied nine points, while Naethan Lovre and Cooper Schiernbeck each scored four points.


Dell Rapids 63, Aberdeen Roncalli 46

MADISON — Dell Rapids pulled away from Aberdeen Roncalli for a boys basketball win at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Brayden Pankonen led the Quarriers with 17 points, while Landon Ruesink recorded 13 points. Jack Henry chipped in 10 points and Shane Stone added seven points.

The Cavaliers were led by Keegan Stewart with 19 points, while Maddox May tallied 12 points.

Lennox 62, Groton Area 52

MADISON — Lennox pulled away from Groton Area for a boys basketball win at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Porter Ihnen scored 16 points, while Jaxon Plank recorded 10 points. Carter Van Houten chipped in nine points, and Talan Diercks added eight points. Jackson Arlt grabbed eight rebounds.

For Groton Area, Lane Tietz scored 14 points, while Tate Larson recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Jayden Zak added nine points.


Vermillion 59, Milbank 49

MADISON — Vermillion pulled away from Milbank for a boys basketball win at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Nick Sorensen recorded 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Jake Jensen tallied 14 points and eight rebounds. T.J. Tracy chipped in nine points and four boards, while Zoan Robinson added eight points.

For Milbank, Garrett Mertens and Justus Osborn each scored 12 points. Bennett Schwenn and Wylie Mursu tallied 11 points apiece.


Dakota Valley 75, Lakota Tech 57

MADISON — Class A No. 1 Dakota Valley had four players score in double-figures as they picked up the boys basketball win over Lakota Tech at the Dak-XII/NEC Clash on Saturday.

Isaac Bruns scored 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, while Randy Rosenquist tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Jaxson Wingert recorded 11 points and seven boards, while Joey Bryan netted 10 points. Sam Faldmo and Brayden Major each added nine points.

For Lakota Tech, Marvin Richard III scored 14 points, while Triston LeBeau tallied 11 points. Jordan Whirlwind Horse netted 10 points and Beau Donovan added nine points and six rebounds.

 

Sioux Valley 69, McCook Central/Montrose 59 

SALEM — Class A No. 4 Sioux Valley held off McCook Central/Montrose for a boys basketball win on Saturday. 

Oliver Vincent led the Cossacks with 19 points and five 3-pointers. Alec Squires added 18 points and eight boards, while Hayden Ruesink had 18 points and five rebounds. Damian Danzeisen had six points and three steals, while Parker Puetz scored five points. 

MCM’s Boston Katzer scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Cody Miles added 11 points and four rebounds. Gavin Gordon recorded 10 points. Jaxon Koch scored six points and Owen Alley had five points. Carter Jandl logged five points and four points. 


Arlington 74, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 43

MADISON — Arlington cruised past Sanborn Central/Woonsocket for a boys basketball win at the DSU Classic on Saturday.

Britt Carlson scored 24 points and six assists, while Caden Letsche tallied 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Ryker Erstad netted 21 points, five assists, and three steals, while Blake Madsen chipped in seven points.

For SCW, Tryce Slykhuis scored 15 points and Brady Larson grabbed 12 boards.


Langford Area 63, Freeman 45

MADISON — Langford Area drilled 11 3-pointers en route to a boys basketball win over Freeman at the DSU Classic on Saturday. 

Jesse Keough led the Lions with 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Kassen Keough logged 15 points, all from the 3-point line. Jackson Bahr hit four 3-pointers for 12 points. Aden Godel finished with five rebounds. 

Freeman’s Blake Rumelhart logged 14 points and seven rebounds. Luke Peters posted 12 points and five boards. Ethan Balvin finished with eight points and six rebounds. 


Menno 41, St. Francis Indian 40

MADISON — Menno edged St. Francis Indian in a boys basketball game at the DSU Classic on Saturday.

Blake Rames led all scorers with 18 points, while Kadeyn Ulmer tallied seven points. Ajay Herrboldt recorded six points and six rebounds. Austin Pillsbury and Tyler Massey each grabbed six rebounds.

For St. Francis Indian, Drake Young scored 10 points and six rebounds, while Darin Arcoren Jr. tallied nine points and five boards.


Baltic 59, Mitchell Christian 38

MADISON — Baltic used a 16-3 first quarter to pull away from Mitchell Christian for a boys basketball win at the DSU Classic on Saturday.

Corbin Wirkus scored 22 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, while Mark Ditter recorded 12 points and six boards. Gunner Schultz tallied 10 points and six steals, and Jack Erickson added eight points and eight boards.

Mitchell Christian was led by Micah Frey and Braedon Nebelsick with 10 points each.

MADISON — Howard raced past Wakpala for a boys basketball win at the DSU Classic on Saturday.

Kolt Koepsell scored 21 points and four steals, while Ryder Erickson tallied nine points. Jace Sifore recorded eight points, 10 rebounds, and four steals, while Brayden Hinker also scored eight points.

Wakpala’s Ashtyn Kills Small scored 14 points, while Lane Cadotte added nine points. 


Ipswich 50, Highmore-Harrold 37

IPSWICH — Ipswich used a 20-9 fourth quarter to pull away from Highmore-Harrold in a boys basketball game on Saturday.

Ian Beyers scored 19 points, while Ty Kadlec tallied 13 points and Taylor Thorson added 10 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.

For HH, Treyton Knox scored 10 points, while Peyton McDonnell tallied eight points. Trake Cowan added seven points and 11 rebounds.


Dell Rapids St. Mary 67, Viborg-Hurley 58

HURLEY — Four players scored in double-figures as Dell Rapids St. Mary picked up a boys basketball win over Viborg-Hurley on Saturday.

C.J. Smith scored 21 points, while Nic Gaspar recorded 12 points. Ty Brown tallied 11 points and Dylan Mathis added 10 points.

For VH, Hayden Gilbert scored 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Gage Goettertz tallied 10 points and nine rebounds. Byron Osterloo recorded nine points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, and Blake Schroedermeier added eight points and seven boards. Kobee Sherman chipped in six points.


Mitchell 66, Sioux Falls Lincoln 60 (OT)

MITCHELL — Class AA No. 3 Mitchell outlasted Sioux Falls Lincoln in overtime in a boys basketball game on Saturday.

Caden Hinker scored a game-high 33 points, six rebounds, and three steals, while Charlie McCardle tallied 13 points. Steel Morgan netted 10 points and eight boards.

Sioux Falls Lincoln’s JT Rock scored 19 points, while Khalil Cisse, Elliot Whitney, and Kyler Dahl each scored nine points.


Pierre 65, Harrisburg 47

HARRISBURG — Pierre cruised past Harrisburg for a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Lincoln Kienholz scored 20 points, while Jackson Edman tallied 18 points and Matthew Hanson added 14 points.

For the Tigers, Ethan Determan scored 19 points and Jacoby Mehrman added 11 points.


Rapid City Stevens 67, Rapid City Central 49

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Stevens had three players score in double-figures as they powered past Rapid City Central in a boys basketball game on Saturday.

Charles Christensen scored 16 points, while Nate Kindred tallied 12 points and Kolin Ray recorded 10 points. Drew Merchant chipped in nine points and Ben Goldy added eight points and 11 boards.

The Cobblers were led by Cael Meisman with 14 points, while Reno Lowe added 10 points.


Lower Brule 65, Tiospa Zina 57

HURON — Keshaume Thigh and Brian LaRoche Jr. combined for 40 points to lift Class B No. 3 Lower Brule over Tiospa Zina at the boys Dakota Oyate Challenge Championship on Saturday.

Thigh scored 21 points, while LaRoche Jr. tallied 19 points. Gavin Thigh netted nine points and Ellwyn Langdeau added eight points.

The Wambdi were led by Juron Adams with 16 points, while Jasiah Red Bear scored 14 points. Perry Lufkins chipped in nine points, while Reondre Greeley and Jayvyn Adams each added eight points.


Marty 99, Flandreau Indian 35

HURON — Five players scored in double-figures to lift Marty to a third place finish over Flandreau Indian at the boys Dakota Oyate Challenge on Saturday.

Benicio Zephier scored 20 points, while Amaziah Zephier tallied 16 points. Elijah Walker and Tate Elk Soldier each chipped in 14 points, while Lawrence Rouse netted 11 points. Haepi Elk Soldier added eight points.

For Flandreau Indian, Malik Longie scored 14 points, while L’Trell Brother of All added 10 points.


Omaha Nation, Neb. 84, Crow Creek JV 53

HURON — Omaha Nation, Neb. raced past Crow Creek JV to a fifth place finish at the boys Dakota Oyate Challenge on Saturday.

For Crow Creek JV, Bradyn Brother of All scored 12 points, while Brad Strickland and Corey Big Eagle each tallied eight points. Josiah Kirkie and Oscar Walking Bull scored seven points apiece.


Tiospaye Topa 64, Takini 45

HURON — Three players scored in double figures to lift Tiospaye Topa to a seventh place finish at the boys Dakota Oyate Challenge on Saturday. 

A.J. Begay led the Thunderhawks with 21 points, while Kaden Rousseau scored 14 points and Gary Bad Warrior added 10 points. Julian Two Crow scored eight points. 

Takini’s Randen Eagle Chasing scored a team-high 29 points. Landen Dupris scored six points and Virgil Red Elk scored five points. 


Girls basketball 

Arlington 50, Aberdeen Christian 40

ARLINGTON — Hadley Carlson’s double-double helped lead Arlington to a girls basketball victory over Class B No. 3 Aberdeen Christian on Saturday.

Carlson finished with 11 points, 18 rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while Harley Johnson tallied nine points. Addalyn Steffensen added seven points.

Aberdeen Christian was led by Mallory Miller with 22 points, 18 rebounds, and four steals.


Tri-Valley 63, Colman-Egan 55

SIOUX FALLS — Tri-Valley had three players score in double-figures as the Mustangs picked up a girls basketball win over Colman-Egan at the Sacred Hoops Classic on Saturday.

Paige Jewett scored a game-high 28 points, while Stephanie Buchmann tallied 18 points. Lauren Grinde added 12 points.

For CE, Mackenzie Hemmer recorded 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Reese Luze and Brynlee Landis scored 10 points apiece. Lanie Mousel added eight points, seven boards, and five steals.


Florence/Henry 48, Winner 43

SIOUX FALLS — Florence/Henry edged Winner in a girls basketball game at the Sacred Hoops Classic on Saturday.

Trinity Watson scored 16 points, while Caylin Kelly tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds. Taylor Watson recorded 10 points, nine boards, and five assists.

For Winner, Bella Swedlund scored 20 points, while Kelsey Sachtjen added 10 points.


Brandon Valley 50, Harrisburg 37

BRANDON — Class AA No. 3 Brandon Valley pulled away from Harrisburg in a girls basketball game on Saturday.

Kylie Foss scored 17 points and Hilary Behrens tallied 10 points. Sidney Thue, Tessa Bowar, and Jaida Metzger each scored six points.

For the Tigers, Emilee Boyer scored 13 points, while Abby Flannigan added seven points.


Great Plains Lutheran 53, North Central 44

WATERTOWN — Great Plains Lutheran picked up a girls basketball win over North Central on Saturday.

Halle Bauer scored 13 points, while Mali York tallied 12 points. Bryn Holmen recorded 11 points and 16 rebounds, while Madeline Prahl added eight points and six boards.

The Thunder were led by Brittney Frickson with 19 points, while Amree Vander Vorst added 10 points.


Lower Brule 62, Crow Creek JV 40

HURON — Three players scored in double-figures as Lower Brule captured the girls Dakota Oyate Challenge Championship over Crow Creek JV on Saturday.

Brilyn LaRoche scored 20 points, while Kharmon Wells tallied 19 points. Courtney Traversie added 17 points.

For Crow Creek JV, Ronessa Sazue scored 17 points and Kenzie Marks added nine points. 


Tiospa Zina 51, Omaha Nation, Neb., 40

HURON — Tiospa Zina claimed a third place finish over Omaha Nation, Neb. at the Dakota Oyate Challenge on Saturday.

For Tiospa Zina, Alexia Quinn scored 27 points, while Kennadee Bissonette recorded 10 points. Jaia Bursheim added six points and Hannah Ziegler chipped in five points.


Marty 66, Tiospaye Topa 33

HURON — Hawk Bair and Jayla Bruguier combined for 46 points to pace Marty to a fifth place finish at the girls Dakota Oyate Challenge on Saturday.

Bair finished with 29 points, while Bruguier added 17 points. Neveah Medicine Horn had five points. 

Tiospaye Topa’s Leilani Bowker scored 17 points and Alexis Bowker netted nine points. Madison Jeffries scored five points. 


Flandreau Indian 49, Takini 36

HURON — Flandreau Indian pulled away from Takini for seventh place at the girls Dakota Oyate Challenge on Saturday. 

Flandreau Indian’s Angie Bull finished with 17 points, while Erika Bien added eight points. Vivica Blacksmith and Cadence Fights Over had seven points apiece. Kylie Walking scored six points. 

Takini’s Amiyah St. John scored nine points, while Halo Wolake, Jynea St. John and Tulana Wolake scored eight points apiece.
