Ethan 52, Avon 37

ETHAN — Hannah Bartscher poured in 33 points to power Class B No. 5 Ethan to a girls basketball win over Avon on Thursday. 

Bartscher added five rebounds, five steals and three assists in the win. Ava Lingemann netted eight points and dished out three assists. Marissa Storm logged six points, while Bella Nesheim handed out five assists. 

Avon’s Tiffany Pelton posted 11 points and nine rebounds. Courtney Sees scored 10 points, while Samantha Brodeen added nine points and five rebounds. Katie Gretschmann had four rebounds, four assists and three points.


Viborg-Hurley 60, Hanson 55 (2OT) 

HURLEY — Viborg-Hurley outlasted Hanson in double overtime to secure a girls basketball victory on Thursday. 

Coral Mason led the Cougars with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Charley Nelson added 13 points. Denae Mach finished with 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. Estelle Lee added seven points and four rebounds. Delana Mach grabbed five rebounds. 

Hanson’s Annalyse Weber finished with 14 points, while Karlie Goergen added 10 points. Vanessa Doyle recorded nine points, while Erin Dewald and Katie Haiar had eight points apiece. Alyssa Moschell scored six points.

De Smet 36, Arlington 34

DE SMET — Kennadi Buchholz hit a game-winning shot with 4.5 seconds left to propel De Smet to a girls basketball win over Arlington on Thursday.

Buchholz finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Emma Albrecht finished with nine points, while Jada Burke added five points and four rebounds.  

Arlington’s Addalyn Steffensen finished with 15 points, while Hadley Carlson logged six points and 10 boards. Harley Johnson added nine points, while Jolyssa Steffensen had five rebounds.

 

Scotland 40, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 39

SCOTLAND — Scotland edged Tripp-Delmont/Armour in a girls basketball game on Thursday.

Martina DeBoer led Scotland with 15 points and five rebounds. Delanie VanDriel scored 11 points and eight rebounds, while Audrey Sayler added six points and rebounds.

TDA’s Megan Reiner scored a game-high 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Emma Faller recorded five points and four rebounds, while Raevin Castle added four points.

 

Bridgewater-Emery 53, Freeman 41

FREEMAN -- Bridgewater-Emery picked up a girls basketball win over Freeman on Thursday. 

Taylor Schallenkamp finished with 15 points, while Julia Weber had 14 points. Casey Meyer added 12 points and Chloe Schmitt grabbed 12 rebounds. 

 

West Central 68, Tea Area 58

TEA — Addy Kramer pumped in 30 points to power Class A No. 3 West Central to a girls basketball win over Tea Area on Thursday. West Central canned 17 3-pointers in the win.

Kramer drilled nine 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds. Rylee Haldeman added 18 points, seven assists and four 3-pointers. Tabor Teel scored 12 points and hit three 3-pointers. Jazelle Jarding netted eight points. 

Tea Area’s Brynn Schupner recorded 19 points and five rebounds. Katie Vasecka logged 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots. Kendra McKinney added nine points. Cassidy Gors added six points and four rebounds, while Stella Peterson posted five points, four assists and four rebounds. 


Florence/Henry 49, Wilmot 21

HENRY — Florence/Henry raced past Wilmot for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Caylin Kelly stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and five assists. Taylor Watson finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and four steals.

Wilmot’s Madeline Remund tallied 17 points.


Hitchcock-Tulare 39, Northwestern 31

TULARE — Hitchcock-Tulare held off Northwestern for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Katelyn Schroeder scored 18 points, eight rebounds, and four steals, while Cambree Hoekman tallied nine points. Jessica Godfrey collected 11 rebounds.

Northwestern’s Emma Grandpre tallied seven points, while Teryn Sparling, Jessica Boekelheide, and Ella Haven each scored six points.


Miller 55, Mobridge-Pollock 47 (OT)

MOBRIDGE — Miller outscored Mobridge-Pollock 11-3 in overtime to secure a girls basketball win on Thursday. 

Miller’s Morgan Kolda finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Aleah Schlechter added 12 points and five rebounds. Tyra Gates recorded nine points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Ally Mullaney logged five points and seven rebounds, while Jaden Werdel added four points and seven boards. 

Mobridge-Pollock’s Mariah Goehring tossed in 15 points and grabbed three rebounds. Emma Keller added nine points and four rebounds. Landyn Henderson finished with eight points and 15 boards. Heidi Olson recorded eight points, six rebounds and five assists. Reagan Weisbeck scored five points. 


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 56, Howard 48

FORESTBURG — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket jumped out to a 23-6 first-quarter lead and held off Howard for a girls basketball win on Thursday. 

Trista White finished with 19 points, while Trinity Boschee added 12 points. Liz Boschee recorded nine points and six boards. Brooke Doering added eight rebounds and Teya Moody dished out five assists. 

Howard’s Abby Aslesen tossed in 24 points, while Kate Connor added eight points and 12 rebounds. 


Mount Vernon/Plankinton 64, Tri-Valley 37

COLTON — Emilee Fox and Maria Baker combined for 46 points to power Mount Vernon/Plankinton to a girls basketball win over Tri-Valley on Thursday. 

Fox tossed in 25 points, while Baker added 21 points.

Tri-Valley’s Paige Jewett scored 14 points. 


Lennox 36, Rock Valley, Iowa, 25

LENNOX — Lennox recorded a 11-point girls basketball win over Rock Valley, Iowa, on Thursday. 

Ryan Hanssen and Andie Peters scored nine points apiece. Drew Kuyper finished with seven points. 

Rock Valley’s Miylie Zomer and Kavri Van Kekerix scored 10 points apiece. 


Andes Central/Dakota Christian 54, Burke 38

LAKE ANDES — Andes Central/Dakota Christian flipped a five-point third quarter deficit into a 16-point girls basketball win over Burke on Thursday. 

Josie Brouwer led ACDC with 17 points and five steals. Lexie VanderPol and Allison Muckey added 16 points apiece. Muckey grabbed 14 boards, while VanderPol had 10 rebounds. Mickey added five steals, while Isabella Brouwer had three assists.

Burke’s Adisyn Indahl finished with 16 points, while Paige Bull recorded 12 points and seven rebounds. Bridget Bartling finished with seven points and five rebounds. 


Menno 40, Mitchell Christian 14

MENNO — Menno jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead and never looked back as they earned a girls basketball win over Mitchell Christian on Thursday.

Ashton Massey led the Wolves with nine points and six rebounds, while Bridget Vaith recorded eight points. Paityn Huber tallied seven points.

Audrey Hofer led Mitchell Christian with seven points.

 

Sioux Falls Washington 54, Aberdeen Central 27

SIOUX FALLS — Class AA No. 1 Sioux Falls Washington pulled away from Aberdeen Central for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Ndjakale Mwenentanda led all scorers with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Alexus Motley recorded nine points. Claire Woods, Kelsey Severson, and Grace Peterson each scored six points.

Aberdeen Central’s Anna Malchow scored seven points, while Kiana Mounga tallied six points and eight rebounds.


Sioux Falls Christian 58, Canistota 20

CANISTOTA — Sioux Falls Christian jumped out to a 20-5 first quarter lead and coasted to a girls basketball win over Canistota on Thursday. 

Kylah vanDonkersgoed and Peyton Poppema scored 10 points apiece for Sioux Falls Christian. Ellie Lems added eight points, while Rachel vanNieuwenhuyzen, Jaxsyn Swift and Brietta Tims scored six points apiece. Ellie Lounsbery scored five points apiece. 

Canistota’s Kayla Papendick netted eight points, while Natalie Becker scored seven points. 


Boys basketball 

White River 75, Kadoka Area 43

WHITE RIVER — Class B No. 2 White River coasted to a boys basketball win over Kadoka Area on Thursday. 

Joe Sayler led the Tigers with 18 points and seven steals. Dylan Marshall recorded 16 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals. Gavin Folkers finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Kendrell Cuevas and Nick Marshall scored nine points apiece. 

Kadoka Area’s Dawson Reckling tossed in 17 points and collected six rebounds, while Kash Block put in 11 points and had five boards. Gus Stout scored eight points. Layne Palmer grabbed eight boards. 

 

Viborg-Hurley 51, Hanson 50

HURLEY — Viborg-Hurley outlasted Hanson in a boys basketball contest on Thursday.

Hayden Gilbert led the Cougars with 17 points, while Blake Schroedermeier added 14 points and six rebounds. Gage Goettertz had nine points and four rebounds. Kobee Sherman logged six points and seven boards, while Byron Osterloo had five points. 

Hanson’s Luke Haiar finished with 18 points, while Ethan Cheeseman and Jayce Slaba scored 11 points apiece. Cheeseman collected 10 rebounds. Jackson Jarding added eight points and four rebounds. 

 

Platte-Geddes 50, Corsica-Stickney 47

PLATTE — Platte-Geddes edged Corsica-Stickney in a boys basketball game on Thursday.

The Black Panthers were led by Caden Foxley’s double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Jackson Olsen and Hayes Rabenberg each scored eight points.

The Jaguars’ Tyson Wentland recorded a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Taven Burke scored 14 points and eight rebounds.


Mount Vernon/Plankinton 40, Tri-Valley 31

COLTON — Mount Vernon/Plankinton used a 12-2 fourth quarter to put away Tri-Valley in boys basketball action on Thursday. 

Reed Rus scored 13 points and collected 14 rebounds, while Jordan Stoltz scored 10 points. Mason Hetland added six points. 

Tri-Valley’s Lance Dewitt, Cole Focken and Riley Carlson scored eight points apiece.

 

Lyman 54, Gregory 45

GREGORY — Lyman held off Gregory for a boys basketball win on Thursday. 

Toby Estes led Lyman with 19 points, while Colton Collins had 13 points and Jacob Sazue netted 12 points. 

Gregory’s Daniel Mitchell notched 24 points and eight boards. Jordan Songer logged 10 points and 10 rebounds.


Howard 60, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 30

FORESTBURG — Howard jumped out to a 36-19 halftime lead and defeated Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in boys basketball action on Thursday. 

Jace Sifore led the Tigers with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Kolt Koepsell finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Ryder Erickson added 10 points. Luke Koepsell scored eight points, while Will Maier recorded six points.

SCW’s Tryce Slykhuis had nine points and five rebounds. Toby Kneen recorded five points, while Jeff Boschee had four points, six rebounds and five assists. Brady Larson added five rebounds. 


Burke 81, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 52

LAKE ANDES — Bryce Frank erupted for 33 points to power Burke to a boys basketball win over Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday. 

Ben Witt added 18 points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists. Nick Nelson netted 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Reed Benter scored 10 points. 

ACDC’s Nolan Black Cloud and Cameron Sybesma scored 14 points apiece. Sybesma added nine rebounds. Rizon Clark scored 13 points and Mason Olson added nine rebounds. 

Sioux Valley 71, Baltic 27

VOLGA — Class A No. 2 Sioux Valley defeated Baltic in the opening round of the Big East Conference boys basketball tournament on Thursday. 

Alec Squires scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Hayden Ruesink logged an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double. Oliver Vincent finished with nine points and five assists, while Damian Danzeisen and Dylen Milton added six points apiece. Maverick Nelson, Carson Christopherson and Layson Lucas scored five points apiece. Sioux Valley plays Chester Area on Friday in the championship semifinals. 

Baltic’s Jack Erickson finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Matt Muston added five points and five boards. Baltic plays McCook Central/Montrose in the consolation semifinals on Friday. 


Chester Area 50, McCook Central/Montrose 48

VOLGA — Chester Area edged McCook Central/Montrose in the opening round of the Big East Conference boys basketball tournament on Thursday.

Brock Wages scored a game-high 21 points, while Ryan Benson recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ashton Olivier scored nine points and Stratton Eppard tallied six points and 11 rebounds.

Boston Katzer led MCM with 17 points. Cody Miles recorded 10 points and seven rebounds, while Micah Van Ruler had seven points and eight rebounds. Gavin Gordon collected nine boards.


Mobridge-Pollock 54, Miller 46

MOBRIDGE — Mobridge-Pollock broke away from a 35-35 third-quarter tie for a boys basketball win over Miller on Thursday. 

Trent Schmeichel led the Tigers with 13 points, four rebounds and three steals. Ashton Pfitzer added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Brady Bauer and Jackson Eisemann scored 10 and nine points, respectively. 

Miller’s Trevor Werdel recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds. Derek Brueggeman scored nine points, while Andrew Knox scored eight points. Alex Schumacher added seven points.


Dakota Valley 56, LeMars, Iowa 46

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Class A No. 1 Dakota Valley used a 23-8 fourth quarter to pull away from LeMars, Iowa in a boys basketball game on Thursday.

Isaac Bruns had an impressive performance, tallying 31 points and seven rebounds. Randy Rosenquist stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven steals, six assists, and four rebounds, while Jaxson Wingert added nine points.

No stats were reported for LeMars, Iowa.


Menno 46, Mitchell Christian 35

MENNO — Menno earned a boys basketball victory over Mitchell Christian on Thursday.

Ajay Herrboldt led Menno with 13 points and five rebounds. Kadeyn Ulmer recorded 12 points and seven rebounds, while Blake Rames scored seven points and 10 rebounds.

Mitchell Christian’s Aiden Lieber recorded a game-high 18 points and Nahum Anderberg scored nine points.


Milbank 66, Clark/Willow Lake 56

MILBANK — Milbank had three players score in double figures as it defeated Clark/Willow Lake in a boys basketball game on Thursday.

Garret Mertens scored a game-high 25 points, while Justus Osborn recorded 18 points. Bennet Schwenn had 12 points and four assists and Stevie Ash tallied eight points. Jaxson Wildung collected six rebounds.

CWL’s Brady Jordan totaled 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Kaplan Felberg had 10 points and nine rebounds. Trey Huber and Tyler O’Neill tallied nine points each.

ETHAN — Ethan jumped out to a 47-17 halftime lead and defeated Avon in boys basketball action on Thursday. 

Kaden Klumb recorded 14 points and five rebounds. Jay Storm logged 13 points, while Riley Endres had eight points. Kody Klumb added seven points and four assists. Taite Klumb added six points and Drake Gustafson scored five points. 

Avon’s Landon Thury scored 11 points, while Lincoln Thury had six points. Kley Heumiller added five points and four rebounds. Jaden Stahl grabbed six rebounds. 


Wessington Springs 61, Sunshine Bible Academy 25

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Wessington Springs ran past Sunshine Bible Academy in a boys basketball game on Thursday.

Mason Schelske recorded a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds. Bryce Kopfmann and Brock Krueger each scored eight points, while Krueger also collected nine rebounds.

SBA’s Nolan Triebwasser tallied 11 points, while Daniel Gerbracht added nine points.


Webster Area 80, Britton-Hecla 48

BRITTON — Webster Area raced past Britton-Hecla in a boys basketball game on Thursday.

Jaydon Keller scored a game-high 28 points, while Jacob Pereboom recorded 21 points. Jacob Keller tallied 14 points, Gavin Sannes had eight points, and Tayne Dunse added seven points.

Britton-Hecla’s Aidan Frederickson scored 18 points, while Dawson Treeby tallied eight points. BoDell Davidson and Landon Carlson each scored six points.


Sioux Falls Lincoln 74, Pierre 51

PIERRE — Sioux Falls Lincoln used a balanced scoring attack to upset Class AA No. 3 Pierre in boys basketball action on Thursday. 

Elijah Olson tossed in 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Elliot Whitney added 16 points and four rebounds. J.T. Rock had 12 points and seven boards. Saif Shah netted 11 points. Khalil Cisse added 10 points, five assists and four rebounds. Gage Gohl finished with four points, four steals, four assists and nine rebounds. 

Pierre’s Lincoln Kienholz recorded 27 points and nine rebounds. Jackson Edman added eight points, while Cade Kaiser scored six points. 


Sioux Falls Washington 67, Aberdeen Central 52

ABERDEEN — Sioux Falls Washington jumped out to a 31-16 halftime lead and defeated Class AA No. 4 Aberdeen Central in boys basketball action on Thursday. 

Mike Kambalo led the Warriors with 19 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals. Tommy Peterson added 16 points, while Zharic Sheppard logged 11 points. Cole Peterson scored eight points, while Mandalla Mohamed had five points and six boards. Joe Uttecht added four points, four rebounds and five assists. 

Aberdeen Central’s Spencer Barr scored 21 points and six rebounds. Sam Rohlfs and A.J. Hase scored 10 points apiece, while Hase grabbed five rebounds. Alec Voegele finished with seven points and three rebounds.
