Lower Brule 64, Castlewood 61

COLMAN — Brian LaRoche Jr.’s 3-pointer as time expired lifted Class B No. 5 Lower Brule past Class B No. 4 Castlewood for a boys basketball win at the Dakota Valley Conference Classic on Saturday.

LaRoche Jr. led Lower Brule with 27 points, while Gavin Thigh and Lane Gray each had 13 points. Tayshawn Battese tallied seven points, while Ellwyn Langdeau added four points.

Castlewood’s Joe Decker totaled 25 points, including eight 3-pointers. Bryon Laue had 13 points, while Booker Schooley had 11 points. Jackson Schofield and Lane Tvedt each added six points. 


White River 78, Philip 68

MURDO — Class B No. 1 White River outlasted Philip for the Jones County Invitational championship on Saturday.

White River’s Joe Sayler finished with 35 points and hit four 3-pointers. Nic Marshall added 21 points, while T.J. Beardt had 10 points. Gavin Folkers finished with six points. 

Philip’s Samuel Hand scored 22 points. Layton Terkildsen and Bryce Westby had 14 points apiece. Jesse Fillingim and Lane Kuchenbecker scored eight points apiece. 


De Smet 52, Pipestone Area, Minn., 40 

COLMAN — Damon Wilkinson and George Jensen combined for 32 points as Class B No. 3 De Smet earned a boys basketball win over Pipestone Area, Minnesota at the Dakota Valley Conference Classic on Saturday.

Wilkinson led the Bulldogs with 18 points and 17 rebounds, while Jensen had 14 points and five rebounds. Kasen Janssen had nine points, while Tom Aughenbaugh added five points.


Hitchcock-Tulare 62, Wessington Springs 53

WOLSEY — Hitchcock-Tulare held off Wessington Springs for a boys 281 Conference Tournament win on Saturday.

HT was led by Carter Binger with 15 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Jackson Maynard logged 14 points and six rebounds, while Riley Fliehe had 11 points. T.J. Salmen grabbed nine rebounds.

WS was led by Parker Graff with 20 points, while Ryder Michalek had 18 points. Colby Flowers added eight points. Brock Krueger had nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals.


Wolsey-Wessington 61, Sunshine Bible Academy 18

WOLSEY — Wolsey-Wessington cruised past Sunshine Bible Academy for a boys 281 Conference Tournament win on Saturday.

WW was led by Blaze Herdman with 14 points and three steals, while Ricky Mavrovic tallied 12 points. Grant Timm added seven points, while Caleb Richmond had six rebounds.

SBA was led by Nolan Triebwasser with seven points.


Chester Area 47, Freeman 38

FREEMAN — Chester Area earned a boys basketball win over Freeman on Saturday.

Chester Area’s Layke Wold totaled 23 points and seven rebounds, while Jovi Wolf added 14 points and seven rebounds.

Freeman’s Luke Peters logged 14 points and five rebounds, while Evan Scharberg added eight points and nine rebounds.


Rapid City Christian 78, Newcastle, Wyo., 21

SPEARFISH — Rapid City Christian cruised past Newcastle, Wyo. for a boys basketball win at the Sacred Hoops West River Classic on Saturday.

Rapid City Christian was led by Sam Fischer with 16 points, while Benson Kieffer had 13 points. Julius Frog added 10 points.


Belle Fourche 71, Langford Area 44

REDFIELD — The Belle Fourche basketball team earned a win over Langford Area at Saturday’s Pheasant Shoot-Out. 

Anthony Budmayr and Anthony Staley both scored 18 points to power Belle Fourche. Jet Jensen finished with 11 points.

Kassen Keough led Langford Area with 21 points while Jesse Keough chipped in with 18 points for the Coyotes. 


Faulkton Area 58, Waverly-South Shore 48

REDFIELD — Faulkton Area pulled ahead late to earn a win over Waverly-South Shore at Saturday’s Pheasant Shoot-Out. 

Roman DiMaria shot the ball well and finished with 21 points to lead Faulkton Area. Layne Cotton attempted 19 free throws and also finished with 21 points. 

Grant Holman led Waverly-South Shore with 11 points while Landon Maag added 10 points for the Coyotes. 


Jones County 63, Colome 42

MURDO — Four players reached double-figures as  Jones County defeated Colome at the Jones County Invitational. 

Cooper Fedderson’s double-double of 18 points and 18 rebounds fueled the Jones County attack. Jhett Nix added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Coyotes. Kaden Kinsley added 13 points while Bryer Kinsley added 10 points. 

Joseph Laprath led Colome with 14 points. Alex Thieman added 12 and Kaden Pechota scored 11 points for the Cowboys. 


Florence-Henry 67, Timber Lake 58

REDFIELD — Four players reached double-figures as Florence-Henry earned a win over Timber Lake at Saturday’s Pheasant Shoot-Out. 

Mehki Keller led the Falcons offensively with 23 points. Tegan Summer finished with 17 points and Ty Bergh scored 14 points. The other player to reach double-figures was Peyton Roe who finished with 11 points. 

Elijah Brewer led Timber Lake with 25 points. Teammate Tristan Dupris added 13 points while Kyle Bollinger added nine points. 


Northwestern 64, Little Wound 43

REDFIELD — Northwestern used a 16-2 first-quarter run to earn a win over Little Wound at Saturday’s Pheasant Shoot-Out.

Lincoln Woodring paced Northwestern with 14 points. Quintin Fischbach and Chase Neiber both scored 12 points for the Wildcats. Nathan Melius chipped in with 11 points to round out the quartet of double-figure scorers. 

Tatanka Catches Enemy led Little Wound with 26 points. 


Redfield 73, Sully Buttes 57

REDFIELD — Three players scored in double figures as Redfield picked up a boys basketball win over Sully Buttes at the Pheasant Shoot-Out on Saturday.

Redfield’s Jerron Haider scored a game-high 30 points and six 3-pointers. Mitchell Mack tallied 16 points, while Justin Ratigan had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nolan Gall added eight points.

Sully Buttes was led by Wesley Wittler with 28 points and six 3-pointers, while Thomas Farries and Trevor Marshall each had nine points.


Girls

Deubrook Area 58, Sioux Valley 57

WHITE — Deubrook Area edged Sioux Valley for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Deubrook Area was led by Skyla Petersen with 18 points, while Kadence Bowne logged 12 points. Matte Bauman and Ellie Koenig each had nine points.

Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker scored a game-high 21 points, while Landree Wilson had 15 points. Julia Schneider added nine points.


Scotland 34, Freeman Academy/Marion 20

SCOTLAND — Scotland picked up a girls basketball win over Freeman Academy/Marion on Saturday.

Jenna Vitek, Martina DeBoer, and Trinity Bietz each had nine points to lead Scotland. Bietz added 13 rebounds.

FAM’s Jada Koerner had 11 points, seven rebounds, and six steals, while Alivea Weber added seven rebounds and six steals. 


Great Plains Lutheran 55, North Central 29

ABERDEEN — Great Plains Lutheran picked up a girls basketball win over North Central on Saturday.

GPL was led by Halle Bauer with 21 points, while Abby Kjenstad tallied 10 points. Myra Lentz and Esta Cameron each had seven points, while Olivia Holmen added six points.

North Central’s Jenisa Jacobs had 10 points, while Brittney Frickson added eight points.
