Vermillion 2, Dakota Valley 0 

Vermillion broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs to hold on to a win over Dakota Valley on Thursday. 

Jake Kratz led Vermillion with two hits while Jake Jensen picked up the win by tossing a three-hit shutout while striking out three and walking three on 92 pitches. 

Winner/Colome 12, Belle Fourche 11

Belle Fourche’s late inning comeback fell short on Thursday in a loss to Winner/Colome on Thursday. 

Trailing 12-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Belle Fourche was only able to muster four runs in the inning to fall short. 

JT Hahne, Nolan Wahfeldt, Dalton Davis, Gabe Heck and Harvey Wahlding drove in runs during the late inning comeback for the Broncos. 

Winner was led by JOey Cole who went 4-for-4 at the plate while Justin Hausmann picked up the win — pitching four innings, giving up five runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked three on 91 pitches. 

Parkston 14, Alexandria 2, 5 innings 

Parkston jumped out to a 7-2 lead after three innings and opened the floodgates in the fifth with seven runs to secure the 10-run rule victory on Thursday. 

Brayden Jervik, Luke Bormann had multiple hits to lead Parkston at the plate. Ty Neugebauer picked up the win for Parkston, pitching five innings while giving up two runs on four hits. He walked four and struck out four on 75 pitches. 

Castlewood 12, Sisseton 10 

Sisseton was three outs away from victory on Thursday before Castlewood scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to steal a win. 

Kagan Tvedt and Lane Tvedt led Castlewood at the plate while Lane picked up the win, pitching the final three innings, giving up a walk and striking out four on 35 pitches. 

Groton 23, Clark 6, 5 innings  

Pierce Kettering drove in four runs on two hits to lead Groton to a win over Clark on Thursday. 

Groton jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the second inning and added three runs in the third, six in the fourth and put the game out of reach with eight runs in the fifth. 

Andrew Marzahn, Kettering, Cole Simon, Bradin Althoff and Ryan Groeblinghoff led Groton at the plate. 

Dell Rapids 11, Volga 8 

Dell Rapids scored five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to hold off Volga on Thursday. 

Brayden Pankonen, Jack Henry, Will Jaton and Treyse Eastman led Dell Rapids at the plate. Landon Ruesink picked up the win, pitching five innings, giving up three runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked three on 105 pitches. 

Canova 13, Colton 6 

Canova took a 9-6 lead after five innings and added four more runs over the final two innings for a win over Colton on Thursday. 

Kade Schumaker and Jackson Remmers led Canova at the plate while Weston Remmers picked up the win — pitching 3â…” innings, giving up six runs on nine hits. He struck out three and pitched 72 pitches. 

Platte-Geddes 4, Mount Vernon 0 

Caden Oberbroekling struck out 10 Mount Vernon hitters to lead the WhiteCaps to a win on Thursday. 

Oberbroekling picked up the win, pitching four innings, giving up a hit while walking two on 73 pitches. Dakota Munger pitched the final three innings, giving up two hits while striking out three and walking one on 43 pitches. 

Grayson Hanson’s RBI single in the top of the first inning gave Platte-Geddes an early 1-0 lead as the WhiteCaps scored four runs in the inning which proved to be the difference maker.
