June 9 Amateur Baseball Roundup - Winner/Colome blanks Corsica-Stickney in Sunshine League action

Winner/Colome 13, Corsica-Stickney 0 (7 innings)

WINNER — Winner/Colome racked up 11 hits en route to a Sunshine League amateur baseball victory on Thursday. 

Drew DeMers led the Pheasants with three hits and one RBI. Oscar Pravecek added two hits and three RBI, while Evan Farner also had two hits. Derek Graesser, Reed Harter, Austin Richey and Zach Harter each had a hit. 

Graesser struck out four batters, walked one batter, one hit and no runs in his three-inning start. J.J. Farner and Connor Hopkins combined for four innings of scoreless relief innings. Farner struck out three batters.

Corsica-Stickney’s Kaleb Crist and Lee Niewenhuis each had a hit. Gavin Zomer gave up 10 hits, nine runs (seven earned), struck out two batters and walked five in his five-inning start. 


Canova 16, Dell Rapids Mudcats 2 (7 innings)

CANOVA — Canova erupted for 14 runs in the final two innings to put away the Dell Rapids Mudcats in a Cornbelt League amateur baseball contest on Thursday.

Garrett Gassman powered the Gang with three hits and seven RBI. Riley Genzlinger added two hits and three RBI. 

Trey Krier earned the win after striking out six batters, allowing nine hits, two runs (one earned) and walking zero in five innings. Kendall Gassman threw two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three batters and allowing zero hits. 

 

Chamberlain 11, Plankinton Gold Sox 1 (7 innings)

PLANKINTON — Chamberlain used a seven-run sixth inning to help secure a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Thursday. 

Chamberlain’s Mike Schwartz and Cole Nachtigal recorded three hits apiece, while Schwartz drove in two runs. Sandler Wiekamp and Dakota Munger each drove in two runs. 

Steiner fanned 10 batters, allowed two hits, one run and walked two batters through seven innings to earn the win. 

For the Gold Sox, Tyler Urban and Logan DeRungs each had a hit. Devin Mehlhaff took the loss after allowing five hits, two runs (one earned), striking out three batters and walking zero in his four-inning start.
