June 9 Legion Baseball Roundup - Garretson holds off Canova Gang for Legion baseball win

Garretson 7, Canova Gang 6

GARRETSON — Garretson held off the Canova Gang for a Legion baseball win on Thursday. Garretson scored the first seven runs of the game before the Canova Gang came back with three runs apiece in the sixth and seventh innings.

Isaiah Gnadt took the win for Garretson, giving up zero runs on two hits in four innings, while striking out four.

Garretson totaled eight hits, with Tayson Swatek, Colby Buseman, and Cadyn Ockenga each tallying two hits. Ockenga also drove in three runs.

Griffin Clubb took the loss for the Canova Gang, pitching four innings and allowing eight hits and seven runs, while striking out four. Clubb also led the Gang with two hits in three at bats and four RBI’s. Lane Miller added two RBI.


Alexandria 7, Salem 3

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria picked up a Legion baseball win over Salem on Thursday.

Hunter Robinson earned the win for Alexandria, giving up two runs on seven hits in five innings, while striking out seven.

Riley Haynes and Jackson Jarding each tallied two hits apiece to lead Alexandria, while Haynes drove in three runs.

Braeden Kerkhove took the loss for Salem, pitching four innings and allowing six runs on six hits, while striking out four.

Salem had nine hits, with Raygen Randall leading with three hits in four at bats. 


Groton Post 39 10, Mobridge Post 4 0

GROTON — Jackson Cogley pitched a no-hitter to lead Groton Post 39 past Mobridge Post 4 in a Legion baseball game on Thursday.

Cogley pitched five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out six. Groton Post 39 tallied eight hits, with Cole Simon and Pierce Kettering leading Post 39 with two hits each. Simon and Ryan Groeblinghoff drove in two runs apiece.

Jack Faehnrich took the loss for Mobridge Post 4, pitching 4 ⅔ innings and allowing eight hits and ten runs while striking out four. 


Dakota Valley Post 319 10, Post 911 Chargers 0

SIOUX FALLS — Dakota Valley Post 319 earned a shutout win over the Post 911 Chargers in a Legion baseball game on Thursday.

Jake Pruchniak picked up the win for Dakota Valley Post 319, giving up zero runs on zero hits in five innings, while striking out 11.

Dakota Valley Post 319 tallied 12 hits, with Jaxon Hennies, Jackson Strawn, Beau Jones, Tyler Schutte, and Pruchniak each collecting two hits. Schutte, Brendan Barnett, and Jackson Boonstra each drove in two runs.

Jake Isakson took the loss for the Post 911 Chargers, giving up seven runs on five hits in one inning, while walking one. Caden Reitz started the game for the 911 Chargers, giving up zero runs on three hits in two innings, while striking out nine and walking one.
