Letcher’s Mason Moody scores third-best ride at Round 5 of National Finals Rodeo

LAS VEGAS — Letcher’s Mason Moody recorded the third-best bull riding score during Monday’s Round 5 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. 

The first-year NFR participant scored an 88.75 on the bull Wild Bill, pocketing $18,630 for the third-best score of the night. It was Moody’s second qualified ride of the NFR, but it was the first ride that earned him some money. He scored an 83 in Round 1. 

Oelrichs barrel racer Lisa Lockhart had her best run of the week to share second place. Lockhart posted a time of 13.55 seconds to tie with Halyn Lide of China Springs, Texas, for a $25,431 check. It was Lockhart's second check of her 18th NFR. In Round 1, Lockhart clocked in at 13.79 seconds to earn $21,882 for the third-best time of the round. Lockhart is currently sitting 10th in the average. 

Sturgis team roper Levi Lord and partner Dustin Egusquiza tied for first in Round 4 action, earning $32,824. Lord and Egusquiza are currently sitting 10th in the team roping average. 

The sixth performance (of 10) of the 67th National Finals Rodeo is Tuesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.
