Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Emilee Fox finished up her prolific high school girls basketball scoring career on March 9.

The senior guard scored 22 points in MVP’s 60-49 win over Hanson for seventh place at the Class A girls basketball tournament in Brookings. Fox scored 2,260 career points, finishing as the 16th all-time leading scorer in South Dakota girls basketball history.

Fox finished her senior season with 131 3-pointers, breaking the state’s high school girls basketball record for most in a single season. Sioux Valley’s Carly Granum was the previous record holder with 122 in the 2017-18 season.

Fox nailed 13 3-pointers at the Class A girls basketball tournament, finishing one away from tying McCook Central’s Kristin Rotert’s Class A record of 14 3-pointers in 2006.

A future South Dakota State University women’s basketball player, Fox received the Class A Spirit of Su at the state tournament.
