EDMOND, Okla. — A pair of South Dakota girls basketball players guided Lady Unity to a Gold Division championship at the Indigenous Hoops League’s Battle on the Plainz on June 10-12.

White River’s Maleighya Estes and Rapid City Central’s Josie Hill are both members of Lady Unity, a non-profit organization based out of Washington representing Native American boys and girls traveling teams.

Estes was named MVP of the Gold Division and Hill was an all-star selection at the event. Lady Unity knocked off Lady Cheyenne and Arapaho (Oklahoma) in the championship game.

Lady Unity also has players from Oregon, Washington, Mississippi and North Dakota.

Estes will play basketball next season at Dakota Wesleyan University, while Hill will play at Division I Chicago State University.
