May 23 State A Baseball Roundup - Brayden Olson's walk-off walk pushes Lincoln to state semifinals

Sioux Falls Lincoln 9, Rapid City Stevens 8

SIOUX FALLS — Brayden Olson’s walk-off walk pushed Sioux Falls Lincoln to the state semifinals over Rapid City Stevens Friday.

Kasen Christiansen drove in three runs on a triple and a walk in the win, Dietrich Haan added two hits and two RBIs, Olson tallied a hit, two walks and an RBI, while Opland Sonnichsen drove in a run on two hits as well. Carter Brady earned the win in 0.1 innings of relief, while Haan tossed the first 6.1 innings for the Patriots, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks.

For Stevens, Ian Beer took the loss, suffering five runs on five hits and six walks in 2.2 innings, striking out four. Brady Waddell drove in two runs on two hits, including a triple, Mason Brooks and Morgan DelaPena each drove in runs on one hit while Jackson Dial, Teagen Smith and Ben Thompson each drove in runs in the loss.

Lincoln will face the Brandon Valley vs. O’Gorman winner at 3 p.m. Saturday in the state semifinals.


Harrisburg 7, Watertown 2

SIOUX FALLS — Eli Kokenge struck out nine batters as the top-seeded Harrisburg Tigers pulled away from Watertown during Friday’s state quarterfinal action.

Kokenge allowed just two runs on three hits and five walks in six innings, striking out nine to take the victory on the mound. Treydon Hofer and Ethan Beek each collected two hits and two RBIs, Gavin Weir drove in a run on two hits, while Kokenge and Noah Boschee each tallied hits in the win.

For Watertown, Kaden Rylance allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in five innings, striking out seven batters. Treyton Himmerich drove in two runs on a double while Mitch Olson and Talan Jurgens each tallied hits in the loss. Harrisburg will face Sioux Falls Jefferson Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the state quarterfinals.


Sioux Falls Jefferson 3, Yankton 2 (8 innings)

SIOUX FALLS — Mason Payne’s RBI-single lifted Sioux Falls Jefferson over Yankton in Friday’s state tournament action Friday.

Payne totaled two hits and an RBI in the win, Boston Bryant drove in two runs on two hits while Carson Hughes and Brody Jacobsen each tallied two hits in the loss. Kyler Boyd earned the victory on the mound in three shutout innings, striking out four batters.

Beck Ryken allowed one run on three hits and a walk in 2.2 innings to take the loss on the mound. Matthew Sheldon and Easton Feser each tallied one hit and one RBI in the loss.

Jefferson will face Harrisburg in the state semifinals at 12:30 p.m.
