Hanson boys, Platte-Geddes girls win Region 4B golf tourney titles

MITCHELL — Three of the top four golfers were Hanson Beavers on Wednesday, and they cruised to the Region 4B golf title at Lakeview Golf Course. 

The Beavers carded a 230, winning the Region 4B boys golf tournament by 19 shots over second-place Bon Homme (249). Platte-Geddes (251) and McCook Central/Montrose (251) tied for third place. 

Individually, Hanson’s Will Jarding powered the region title with a 3-over-par 74 and won individual medalist honors. Jarding shot a 36 on the front nine, and he carded two birdies on the day. 


Hanson’s AJ Wilber (77) and Ben Wilber (79) finished second and third, respectively. McCook Central/Montrose’s Mason Sabers (79) tied with Ben Wilber for third place. Gregory’s Luke Stukel (80) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

The Platte-Geddes girls won the region championship with a 286, finishing ahead of Burke (298) and Scotland-Menno (300). 

Mallory Gant shot an 86 and won individual medalist honors for the Black Panthers. Gant shot a 42 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine. Scotland-Menno’s Evie Foss (91) and Ethan’s Bella Guthrie (92) finished second and third, respectively. 

Burke’s Olivia Bull (95) and Paige Beckers (96) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

The Class B boys and girls golf tournament is June 2-3 in Watertown.
