SIOUX FALLS — The Class A South Dakota High School Baseball Association tournament is May 23-24 at Sioux Fall Stadium. 

The action kicks off with Harrisburg vs. Watertown at noon and concludes with O’Gorman vs. Brandon Valley at 7:30 p.m. The state championship is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start on May 24. You can tune in to all seven state tournament games on LiveTicket.Tv.

Here’s a look at all eight teams in the field: 


No. 1 Harrisburg 

Coach: Jake Adams

Record: 14-2

Key players: Eli Kokenge, Gavin Weir, Kason Syverson

Notes: Harrisburg plays Watertown at noon in the opener. … Harrisburg’s two in-state losses were against Jefferson and O’Gorman. … Kokenge and Weir were first-team all-staters. Noah Boschee and Treydon Hofer were second-team all-state selections. … Harrisburg finished second at last season’s state tournament, falling to Lincoln in the state championship. … Weir is hitting .482 at the plate and has driven in 17 runs. … A future University of Minnesota baseball player, Kokenge is batting .427 and has driven in 22 runs. … Hofer and Boschee have driven in 22 and 21 runs, respectively. … Kokenge has a 1.361 ERA and is 3-4, while he has 63 strikeouts. … A future Augustana University baseball player, Syverson is 4-0 with a 2.154 ERA and has 36 strikeouts. … Weir is 3-0 with a 1.641 ERA and has 27 strikeouts. 


No. 8 Watertown

Coach: Ryan Neale

Record: 9-9

Key players: Kaden Rylance, Mitch Olson, Talan Jurgens

Notes: Watertown plays Harrisburg at noon in the opener. … A future South Dakota State University baseball player, Rylance was a first-team all-stater. Rylance is 3-0 with 56 strikeouts and a 0.73 earned-run average in 28 2/3 innings pitched. … At the plate, Rylance is batting .302 in 61 at-bats with four doubles, nine runs scored and eight runs batted in. … Jurgens and Olson were all-region performers for the Arrows. … A Dakota State University baseball recruit, Jurgens went 3-0 on the mound with a 1.46 ERA in 24 innings over five starts. … A future University of Sioux Falls baseball player, Olson is batting .378 and leads the team with 17 RBIs. … Watertown is on a three-game winning streak, including two wins over Pierre in the best-of-three Super Regional series. 


No. 4 Sioux Falls Jefferson

Record: 15-7

Key players: Cason Mediger, Noah Kuenzi, Ethan Biggar

Notes: Jefferson plays Yankton at 2:30 p.m. in its first-round game. … Jefferson split two games with Yankton this season. … Biggar was a first-team all-state selection. … Mason Payne and Everett Salonen were second-team all-state selections. Payne, Bigger and Salonen were all-region selections, as were Brody Jacobson and Caden Voss. … Jefferson is on a three-game winning streak, including a sweep over Spearfish in the best-of-three Super Regional series. … Medinger drove in four runs in Game 2 of the best-of-three series against Spearfish. … Salonen struck out 10 batters and allowed just two hits against the Spartans. 


No. 5 Yankton 

Coach: Drew Lawrence

Record: 17-5

Key players: Matthew Sheldon, Samuel Gokie, Owen Wishon

Notes: Yankton plays Jefferson at 2:30 p.m. in its opening round game. … Yankton split two games with Jefferson this season. … Gokie, Beck Ryken, Mark Gathol and Gavin Johnson were all-state selections. … The Bucks are riding a six-game winning streak, including a sweep over Brookings in the best-of-three Super Regional series. … Easton Feser drove in four runs on two hits and smacked a home run against the Bobcats in Game 2 of the best-of-three series. Gavin Johnson added a home run. … Ryken struck out three batters and allowed one earned run on three hits in 6.2 innings to help secure the win. 


No. 2 Sioux Falls Lincoln 

Coach: Jordon Johnson

Record: 12-7

Key players: Connor Gray, Dietrich Haan, Kasen Christiansen

Notes: Lincoln plays Rapid City Stevens at 5 p.m. in the first round. … The Patriots are the defending Class A state champions. … Haan was a first-team all-state selection, while Ethan Olson and Colin Lunders were second-team all-staters. … Lincoln is on a four-game winning streak, including a sweep over Tea Area in the best-of-three Super Regional series. … Jude Timat finished 2-for-4 and drove in three runs in Lincoln’s Game 2 win over Tea Area to secure a trip to state. … Lunders drove in two runs. … Haan struck out six batters, allowed four hits and zero runs through six innings against the Titans. 


No. 7 Rapid City Stevens

Coach: Molloy Dial

Record: 13-5

Key players: Ian Beer, Mason Brooks, Jackson Dial

Notes: Stevens plays Lincoln at 5 p.m. in the first round. … Stevens won the only super regional to go to a game three. … Beer and Dial were first-team all-state selections while Beer earned second-team honors. … Beer helped the Raiders to a mercy rule victory over Mitchell in game one of the regional, tossing a complete game while driving in two runs on two hits. … Dial, a Washington State baseball commit, struck out 12 batters against Mitchell in game two of the super regional. … Brooks, a Dakota State baseball commit, helped limit Mitchell to just four runs in five innings in the deciding game. … Molloy Dial is the reigning Class A coach of the year. … The Raiders are 8-3 in the month of May, with all three losses coming against Mitchell.


No. 3 O’Gorman

Coach: Dan Hughes

Record: 16-5

Key players: Sully Schlimgen, Rylan Arbogast, John Lent

Notes: O’Gorman plays Brandon Valley at 7:30 p.m. in the first round. … Schlimgen was a first-team all-state selection, while Arbogast was a second-team all-stater. … Schlimgen will play college football at Washington State University. … Schlimgen is batting .430, has cracked five home runs and has driven in 33 runs. … Arbogast has pitched in 40.2 innings, with a 5-2 record and has struck out 41 batters.
