Platte Killer Tomatoes 6, Mount Vernon Mustangs 5

PLATTE — Preston Nedved’s eighth inning two-run home run helped the Killer Tomatoes defeat the Mustangs in Sunshine League amateur baseball action Tuesday night.

Platte tallied just five hits in the win, Nedved went 1-for-4 with a 2-RBI home run, Grant Hanson went Hayden Kuiper went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs, Hunter Hewitt added a hit and an RBI, and Grant Hanson and Jimmy Dewaard each tallied hits for the ‘Mators. 

Dawson Hoffman earned the victory on the mound, throwing two shutout innings of relief without giving up a single baserunner.

For Mount Vernon, Deric Denning took the loss on the mound, allowing five hits, four walks, and six runs in eight innings while striking out eight.

Chase Hetland led the team in hits with two, including a double and an RBI, while Bradley Dean drove in two runs on a home run. Walker Hultgren and Spencer Neugebauer each collected hits in the loss.


Redfield Dairy Queen 14, Northville Merchants 2

NORTHVILLE — Redfield Dairy Queen collected 13 hits to defeat the Northville Merchants in amateur baseball action Tuesday night.

The offense was paced by Peyton Osborn, who tallied four hits in four at-bats with a walk including a triple, a double, and two runs driven in.

Bennett Osborn also had an excellent night at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

Six other batters tallied hits in the win for Redfield.

Tom Gregg took the victory on the mound for Redfield, allowing two hits in four innings of work while striking out three batters.

For Northville, Jeremiah Maxfield collected two hits in the loss including a double and a walk, while Kyle Stahl and Niko Pezonella each added a hit.

Northville’s Carter Lane earned the loss on the mound, giving up five hits, three walks, and five runs in four innings pitched.


Dimock-Emery Raptors 9, Freeman Blacksox 5

EMERY — A four-run eighth inning helped propel Dimock-Emery past Freeman in non-league amateur baseball action Tuesday night.

Tied at 5-5, Bryce Smart and Sawyer Schultz reached base before back-to-back doubles by Chase Arend and Drew Kitchens that scored the go-ahead runs.

Kitchens, Colton Plagmann, and Josh Engquist each led the team in hits with two apiece.

Chase Arend, Gene Kitchens, Sam Arend, Landon Waddell, and Bryce Smart each tallied hits in the win.

Enquist earned the victory on the mound for the Raptors, allowing two hits, two walks, and one run in three innings of relief.

For Freeman, Jake Weier took the loss in his four innings pitched, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out four.

Jonah Hofer paced the Blacksox offense in the loss, batting 2-for-4 with an RBI. Evan Sharberg drove in two runs on one hit in the loss as well.


Parkston Devil Rays 7, Crofton Blue Jays (Neb.) 4

CROFTON — Dylan Soulek struck out 13 batters as Parkston took down Crofton in non-league amateur baseball action Tuesday night.

Soulek threw eight innings, allowing just four hits, six walks, and two earned runs earning the victory on the mound.

The Devil Ray offense was highlighted by a 3-for-4 night by Jake Helleloid, including a double, a walk, and three runs driven in. Seth Muth had just one base hit but drew three walks in the win as well.

Max Scott, Landon Sudbeck, and Caleb Titze each tallied hits in the win.

For Crofton, Ray Knapp took the loss allowing three runs, two hits, and two walks in four innings pitched.

Justin Potts led the team in hits with three, while Zach Hegge, Lach Lund, and James Kaiser each had one hit and one run driven in.
