May 5 High School Baseball Roundup - Eastman strikes out 13 batters as Dell Rapids nips Sioux Falls Christian, 2-1

Dell Rapids 2, Sioux Falls Christian 1

RENNER — Treyse Eastman fanned 13 batters to lift Dell Rapids to a high school baseball win over Sioux Falls Christian on Thursday.

Eastman allowed three hits, one unearned run and walked one batter in seven innings. Eastman also had a hit at the plate. 

C.J. Smith finished 2 of 3 at the plate, while Jack Henry drove in two runs on one hit. Brayden Pankonen, Landon Ruesink, Sutton Williams and Will Jaton each had hits. 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Caden Reitz allowed eight hits, two runs, struck out six and walked one in the seven-inning loss. Aidan Strandberg, Tate Synder and Jacob Sanderson each had a hit. Synder drove in the lone run. 


Vermillion 2, Wagner 0

WAGNER — Vermillion’s Jake Jensen struck out eight batters in a two-hit shutout victory over Wagner in Thursday high school baseball action. 

Jensen walked two batters on 85 pitches, while he added a hit on offense. 

T.J. Tracy finished 2 of 3 at the plate, while Jack Kratz and Charlie Ward each had hits. Ward also drove in a run. 

For Wagner, Nolan Dvorak took the loss after allowing five hits, two earned runs and struck out six batters in 5 2/3 innings. Offensively, Dvorak had both of Wagner’s hits. Dustin Honomichl pitched 1 2/3 relief innings, struck out three batters and walked one batter. 


Baltic 3, Tri-Valley 2

COLTON — Andrew Vandam struck out six batters and allowed two hits in Baltic’s high school baseball win over Tri-Valley on Thursday.

Vandam allowed two unearned runs and didn’t allow a walk through seven innings. Offensively, Caleb Kittelson and Jose Valadez had two hits apiece. Valadez, Hunter Larson and Tayden Hansen drove in runs, while Riley Dobbins, Beau Keith and Matt Muston each added hits. 

For Tri-Valley, Riley Carlson allowed two hits, two runs and struck out four batters through 4 1/3 innings.
