Howard 16, Hamlin 1

BRYANT — Howard scored eight runs in the sixth inning to pull away from Hamlin in a high school baseball game on Friday.

Ryder Erickson and Kolt Koepsell each had four hits to lead the Tigers, who tallied 16 hits as a team. Colby Claussen also contributed two hits.

Logan Mentele took the win for the Tigers, allowing one run on four hits, striking out five and walking zero in five innings.

Hamlin’s Watson Grantham gave up 10 runs on 12 hits and struck out two in 5 ⅔ innings.

The Chargers were led by Riley Jutting with two hits in three at bats.


Pierre 4, Sioux Falls O’Gorman 0

PIERRE — Jett Zabel struck out 11 batters to carry Pierre to a high school baseball win over SIoux Falls O’Gorman on Friday.

Zabel pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and one walk.

Lincoln Kienholz, Jayden Wiebe, and George Stalley each finished 2 of 3 at the plate, and each had one run. Kienholz also drove in one run.

Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Loegen Lindner allowed nine hits, struck out five, and walked one in the loss. 

Pierre also won Game 2 by a score of 13-4.


Mitchell 3, Brookings 1

MITCHELL — Jake Helleloid allowed only three hits as Mitchell defeated Brookings in a high school baseball game on Friday.

Helleloid struck out 12 batters and walked one in seven innings. Dylan Soulek was 2 of 3 at bat to lead Mitchell.

Jake Ammann took the loss for Brookings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out eight. Charlie Holm led Brookings in hits, going 2 of 3 at the plate.

Mitchell also won Game 2, 10-0.


Parkston 8, Canton 2

CANTON — Parkston scored four runs in the third inning to pull away from Canton in high school baseball action on Friday.

Brayden Jervik led the Trojans with three hits in four at bats, while Jay Storm was two of three. Parkston also had ten stolen bases as a team, with Storm leading with three.

Ty Neugebauer picked up the win for the Trojans, striking out 11, while allowing three hits and two runs in five innings. Taite Klumb pitched two relief innings.

Canton’s Matt Anderson took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out three in 2 1/3 innings. Elijah Isais drove in two runs for Canton on a single.


Menno/Scotland 4, Baltic 3

MENNO — Menno/Scotland edged Baltic in a high school baseball game on Friday.

The Trappers were led by Treyton Sayler, who surrendered two runs on five hits and struck out four in 5 1/3 innings. 

Austin Pillsbury, Ajay Herrboldt, and Sayler each had one hit for the Trappers.

Baltic’s Beau Keith took the loss, striking out six, allowing three hits and four runs in five innings.

Keith and Riley Schultz each had two hits as Baltic recorded a total of eight hits. 


Belle Fourche 15, Douglas 5

BELLE FOURCHE — An eight run fourth inning helped Belle Fourche pull away from Douglas in a high school baseball game on Friday.

Sean Wahlfeldt led the Broncs with four hits in four at bats, including two doubles in the fourth inning. Harvey Walding tallied three hits, while Nolan Wahlfeldt and Evan Vissia each tallied two hits.

Jack Stearns led the Broncs in pitching, giving up five runs on eight hits in five innings, while striking out five and walking one.

Lucas Giersburg took the loss for Douglas, allowing nine runs on ten hits in 3 1/3 innings, while striking out seven and walking one. 

Jaxson Prussner and Landon Berkley each had two hits to lead Douglas.

Belle Fourche won the second game, 7-6.
