New weight classes and Class B wrestling 2023-24 preseason ratings
McCook Central/Montrose's Jackson Remmers will be looking for a third state title next spring. He is projected to wrestle in the new (157) weight class.

For South Dakota wrestling fans some big changes are coming to the weight classes next year. The first six weight classes (106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138) will all remain the same. For the 2023-24 season the next seven weight classes will be 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190 and 215. The 285 weight class will remain the same. 


Dakota Grappler 2023-24 Preseason Wrestling Rankings

While the South Dakota state wrestling tournaments are complete wrestlers are already thinking about and preparing for next season. Dakota Grappler released their preseason wrestling rankings this week projecting Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall Badlands Brawlers as the team to beat in Class B next season. The Brawlers are projected to score 139 points ahead of Canton (135) and McCook Central/Montrose (125). Custer (123) and Miller/Highmore-Harrold (100).
