Castlewood 3, Kadoka Area 0

SIOUX FALLS — No. 8 Castlewood jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, sweeping No. 4 Kadoka Area during Friday’s Class B state volleyball consolation bracket. The set scores were 25-20, 25-17, and 25-19.

Castlewood’s Emerson Carter was dominant at the net with 22 kills and four blocks, Cassidy Kirwan dished out 23 assists, seven digs, and six kills, Emery Larson tallied 12 assists, Nora Solberg recorded 16 digs, Claire Horn had six kills, nine digs and two aces, while Ava Ruml tallied four kills in the win.

Kadoka Area’s Bella Williams tallied 13 kills and four digs, Shaylee Porch had six kills and nine digs, Kassidee Williams tallied 19 assists, eight digs, three kills and three blocks, while Madisyn Nemecek totaled five kills, nine digs, three assists and four aces in the loss.

Castlewood advances to Saturday’s consolation championship where it will take on No. 7 Colman-Egan at 12:45 p.m., while Kadoka Area faces No. 6 Gayville-Volin in the seventh place match at 11 a.m. Saturday.


Colman-Egan 3, Gayville-Volin 0

SIOUX FALLS — No. 7 Colman-Egan swept No. 6 Gayville-Volin to advance to the Class B consolation championship. The set scores were 25-17, 25-17, and 25-10.

CE’s Brynlee Landis led the way with 13 kills and 13 digs, Elaina Rhode had 10 kills and 19 digs, Finley Luze tallied 15 assists, four digs and four kills, Kaylee Voelker had 14 assists, 14 digs and two blocks, while Presley Luze had eight digs and two assists in the win.

GV’sMaia Achen and Kayden Bye each had six kills, Britton Scheetz tallied 20 assists and six digs, Taylor Hoxeng had 15 digs, Ayla Dimmer tallied nine digs in the loss.

Colman-Egan will face Castlewood for the consolation championship at 12:45 p.m., while Gayville-Volin plays Kadoka Area at 11 a.m. in the seventh place match.


Chester Area 3, Burke 1

SIOUX FALLS — The defending Class B champion will defend its title Saturday after Chester Area defeated No. 5 Burke during Friday’s semifinal action. The set scores were 19-25, 25-17, 28-26, and 25-18.

Chester Area’s Jacy Wolf racked up 20 kills, 14 digs, 14 assists and three blocks, Lily Van Hal had 19 kills, 18 digs, 29 assists, four blocks and two aces, Emmerson Eppard recorded 12 kills and 12 digs, Gracie Huntimer tallied 29 digs, five assists and four aces, while Alexis Bauman recorded 10 digs and seven assists in the win.

Burke’s Kailee Frank recorded 16 kills and 12 digs, Emmie Hausmann had 12 kills, six aces, and four digs, Paige Bull tallied 11 kills and four blocks, Emmy Spencer dished out 23 digs and 19 assists, while Ava Sargent recorded seven assists and 12 digs in the loss.

Chester Area will face No. 2 Warner Saturday at 6:45 p.m. in the State B championship, while Burke takes on No. 3 Hitchcock-Tulare at 5 p.m. for third place.


Warner 3, Hitchcock-Tulare 0

SIOUX FALLS — No. 2 Warner made quick work in the Class B semifinals, sweeping No. 3 Hitchcock-Tulare during Friday’s state volleyball action. The set scores were 25-20, 25-23, and 25-20.

Warner’s Makenna Leidholt tallied 14 kills and two blocks, Libby Scepaniak had 20 assists and seven digs, Reagan Wood recorded 18 assists and seven digs, Kyleigh Schopp tallied nine kills, eight digs and four blocks, Miah Leidholt had eight kills, four digs and three blocks, Jaycee Jung tallied 17 digs and seven kills, while Jordyn Jensen had 18 digs in the Monarch win.

HT’s Katelyn Schroeder recorded 15 kills, 15 digs and four digs, Ella Johnson tallied eight kills and five digs, Lila Johnson had 17 assists and 10 digs, Rebecca Huizenga had six blocks, Cambree Hoekman totaled 17 digs in the loss for the Patriots.

Warner will take on No. 1 Chester Area in a rematch of last year’s State B championship at 6:45 p.m., while Hitchcock-Tulare will face Burke in the third place match at 5 p.m.
