Renner Monarchs 13, Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels (7 innings)

MITCHELL — The Renner Monarchs recorded 14 hits and advanced to the Class A state amateur baseball championship game on Saturday. Renner will play the Sioux Falls Brewers at noon on Sunday in the Class A state title game. 

Tyler Peyton and Kyle Gulbrandson had three hits apiece. Beh Ihrke, Dave Borchardt and Aiden Ladd had two hits apiece. Ladd drove in three runs. Gulbrandson drove in three runs, while Borchardt had two RBI. Ladd hit a solo homer. Ryan Hander earned the win after five strikeouts, allowed zero runs and five hits, while walking two batters in his six-inning start.

For Sioux Falls, Jon Wilhelmsen had two hits and drove in a run. Stuart Baruth took the loss after allowing six earned runs on six hits and struck out one batter. 


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 6, Brookings Cubs 4

MITCHELL — The Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels edged Brookings in a Class A state amateur baseball tournament win on Saturday.

Zach Dibble, Trevor Hurley, Jaden Holzer, Seth Peterson and Sam Rall had two hits apiece. Lucas Wilber drove in two runs, while Dibble, Jon Wilhelmsen and Holzer drove in runs. 

Camden Gadbois earned the win after six strikeouts, four earned runs on 11 hits and walked two batters in a complete-game performance. 

For Brookings, Noel Burgos, Chase McDaniel, Dawson Portner and Austin Koenig had two hits apiece. Tyler Kreutner took the loss after allowing six earned runs on nine hits and struck out two batters.
