Tea Area, Sioux Falls O'Gorman golfers to compete at Boys High School Golf National Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. — Ten South Dakota golfers will compete at the 2022 Boys High School Golf National Invitational at Pinehurst Resort on July 11-13. 

This invite-only tournament field will be made up of the top high school golfers across the country. Tea Area’s Brady Sabers, Derek Anderson, Eric Munson and Keeton Newborg, along with Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Jacob Stewart, Liam Sarmiento, Mac Drake, Radley Mauney, Will Hurd and William Sanford will compete at the prestigious event. 

Teams and individuals will receive invites based on state championship performance. The invitational is a 3-day, 54-hole stroke play event including team and individual competition. Competition rounds will take place on Pinehurst No. 5, No. 6, and No. 7 courses.

The state championship medalists will receive an invitation. The state champions in each division of every state will receive an invitation. 

Sioux Falls O’Gorman won the 2021-22 Class AA state championship, while Tea Area captured the 2021-22 Class A state championship. 

Golfers from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Guam, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming will also compete in the tournament.
