COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA — Three teams from South Dakota participated in the Heartland National wrestling duals Saturday in Council Bluffs, Iowa. 

The South Dakota middle school boys finished the day with a 1-4 record. The South Dakota high school boys ended their day with a 2-2 record while the South Dakota high school girls ended their day with a 1-4 record. 

Sturgis athlete Zhoel Irion finished his day with a 5-0 record and is still in the running for All-American honors in the middle school division. Huron’s Moses Gross (4-0), Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan (4-0) and Watertown’s Micah Hach (4-0) are all still in the running for All-American honors at the high school level.  

There were a couple of matches on Saturday in the high school girls competition featuring nationally ranked wrestlers. Spearfish’s Taylor Graveman, No. 3 at (132) dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 4 ranked Lily Luft at 132. No. 10 Zoe Adam at 200 was pinned late in the second period by Iowa’s Bella Porcelli, No. 11 at 180.
