ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Jessica Caspers and Sophie Hruby highlighted the Team South Dakota performers at the 2025 National High School Finals Rodeo.

Caspers, of New Underwood, tied for second in the breakaway roping average with a total time of 8.97 seconds. Caspers finished 12th in the first go-round, 20th in the second go-round and fifth in the short go-round. 

Hruby, who is from Hemingford, Nebraska but competes for Team South Dakota, finished second in the goat tying average (21.5 seconds). She had the second-best time in the second go-round (6.67 seconds) and fourth in the short go-round (7.08 seconds) to highlight her performances. Belle Fourche’s Syd Pelster (22.99) and Pierre’s MaKenzee Wheelhouse (23.48) finished 11th and 12th, respectively, in the goat tying average. 

Wall’s Brooke Diedrichs finished sixth in barrel racing average (52.039 seconds). Diedrichs had the top time in the first go-round (17.158) and finished fourth in the second go-round (17.335). 

Winner’s Roper Moore finished eighth in the boys cutting average (636 points), and earned a fourth-place finish in the second go-round (219). 

Highmore’s Talon Ping tied for 13th place in the bareback riding (214), and finished second in the first go-round (80). 

Pierre’s Ryen Sheppick finished 14th in the reined cow horse average (858), and earned a 13th-place finish in the short go-round (283). 

Saint Onge’s Taiten Eaton finished 11th in the saddle bronc average (189.5), and finished 11th in the short go-round with a 62.  

As a team, South Dakota was eighth in the girls standings with 2,640 points. Oklahoma scored 4,355 points to earn the team title. South Dakota placed 21st in the boys team standings (1,482.27). Team South Dakota finished eighth overall with 4,122.27.
