YANKTON — A year after losing in a playoff, Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink capped her senior year by winning medalist honors at the Class AA state golf tournament at Hillcrest Country Club Tuesday. 

Meyerink shot rounds of 75-74 (149) to edge Aberdeen Central’s Olivia Braun (150) by one stroke. Mitchell’s Maddie Childs and O’Gorman’s Erin Hurd tied for third (156). 

After Monday’s first round the top three teams (Mitchell, Watertown and Aberdeen Central) were separated by just two strokes. The Arrows broke from that pack shooting 17 strokes (316) better than they did Monday (333) to claim the Class AA girls title (649), Mitchell (652) and Aberdeen Central (664).
