Three weeks into the season and the Pierre girls continue to impress.

The Governor girls won the Rapid City Invitational and hit the Christmas break with three top-ranked wrestlers. Sydney Uhrig (107), Dani Ringstmeyer (120) and Abbi Lewis (152) all are top-ranked in the week 3 girls wrestling rankings. Three time defending state champion, Ciara McFarling has yet to make her 2023-24 debut.

The Governors received 175 points in the week 3 poll, ahead of Canton (152) and Watertown (108). Lakota Tech (104) and Spearfish (84) round out the top-five ranked teams.

Several changes in top-ranked wrestlers this week. Canton seventh grader, Finley Evjen, who is also this week’s wrestler of the week takes over the No. 1 ranking (100) with Watertown’s Olivia Anderson dropping to No. 2. Pierre’s Dani Ringstmeyer takes over the top ranking (120) after Canton’s Sara Schroder dropped to (114). Viborg/Hurley/Irene/Wakonda’s Gia Miller takes over the top ranking (165) with Brookings athlete Maizy Mathis dropping to No. 2.
