 Todd County track teams sweep titles at Lakota Nation Invitational

MISSION — The Todd County girls won Friday’s Lakota Nation Invitational amassing 271 points, well ahead of Pine Ridge (92) and Little Wound (47). White River (39) and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (37) rounded out the top-five teams. 

The Todd County boys won the team title with 127 points, just ahead of Lakota Tech (100) and Pine Ridge (85). White River and Little Wound each scored 75 points to tie for fourth place.

For the Todd County girls Elianna Wright won the 100-meter dash (:14.30) and ran legs on the winning 400-meter relay (:56.62), 800-meter relay (1:59.72) and 1,600-meter relay (5:24.24). Shelly Larvie won the 1,600-meter run (6:18.10, the 3,200-meter run (14:13) and ran a leg on the winning 3,200-meter relay team (12:12.60). Other winners for Todd County came from Lesleen Makes Room For Them in the 400-meter run (1:09.33), Alexsis Red Bird in the 800-meter run (2:56.60), the sprint medley relay (5:14.66), Skye Horse Looking in the discus (87-5.5), Allie Wilcox in the javelin (88-8), Frankie Iron Heart in the long jump (14-11) and Lovelee Holy Bull in the triple jump (31-8).

Pine Ridge’s Louise Pond won the 100-meter hurdles (:18.66), the 300-meter hurdles (:52.62), finished third in the long jump (13-7.25) and second in the triple jump (30-3).

Other event winners came from Marty’s Gabby Zephier in the 200-meter dash (:29.63), Angeliyah Big Boy in the shot put (33-7) and White River’s Maleena Brave in the high jump (4-10).

In boys action Todd County junior Ty Valandra won the 100-meter dash (:11.54), ran the opening leg on the winning 400-meter relay (:46.65) and ran a leg on the winning 800-meter relay team (1:35.77). Chris Ellert ran on the 400 and 800 meter relays, won the 400-meter dash (:53.32) and placed second in the high jump. Jayce Allen was a double-winner for the Falcons winning the 110-meter hurdles (:16.75) and 300-meter hurdles (:43.41).

White River’s Ethan Watson won the shot put (55-9) and the discus (151-6). 

Lakota Tech’s Gilbert White had a superb day winning the triple jump (41-2), the high jump (6-2), finishing second in the long jump (19-7) and second in the 110-meter hurdles (:19.02). 

Pine Ridge’s Daelan LeBeau was fourth in the 100-meter dash (:11.89), third in the 200-meter dash (:23.90), won the long jump (20-4.5) and ran a leg on the second place 400-meter relay team (:48.36). 

Lower Brule’s Marley Carpenter won the 800-meter run (2:12.78), Crazy Horse’s Edward 

Black Hawk won the 1,600-meter run (5:08).

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s Jayden Taken Alive won the 3,200-meter run (12:23) and anchored the winning 3,200-meter relay (9:35.79).
