West Central 3, Sioux Falls Christian 1

SIOUX FALLS — West Central edged Sioux Falls Christian during high school baseball action Wednesday.

Gunnar Alfson tossed four shutout innings in the win for the Trojans, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. Zach Lorang and Alfson each drove in a run on one hit in the win while CJ Den Boer and JT Steckley each had hits for WC.

For SFC, Jake Humpal took the loss allowing one run on two hits and six walks in 4.1 innings, striking out eight batters. Peter Samp led the Charger offense with two hits, including a double, while Abbott Moeller drove in the lone run in the loss.


Freeman/Canistota/Marion 11, Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney 1 (6 innings)

CORSICA — Easton Miller drove in three runs as Freeman/Canistota/Marion took a mercy-rule win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney during Wednesday’s high school baseball action.

Miller totaled two hits and three RBIs in the win, Oliver Waltner and Riley Gall each had two hits, including a double by Waltner and two doubles from Gall, Alaric Knittel drove in two runs on one hit, Riley Tschetter had an RBI on a double and a walk while Easton Tschetter tallied two hits, a triple, walk and an RBI in the win. Waltner and Gall each pitched three innings for FCM, allowing one run on three hits and two walks, striking out five batters.

For MVPCS, Sawyer Williams allowed eight runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings of work, striking out two. Williams drove in the lone run of the game for the Padres on one hit.


Sioux Valley 8, Colman-Egan/Flandreau 5

FLANDREAU — Sioux Valley scored four runs in the final two innings to stun Colman-Egan/Flandreau for a high school baseball win Wednesday.

Braden Danzeisen led the Cossacks with three RBIs on a triple and three walks, Bret Milton and Broden Teske each had two RBIs on a hit and two walks while Kade Hauck tallied an RBI on one hit in the win. Damon Uecker took the win on the mound allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks in five innings, striking out six batters.

For CE/F, Xavier Bien took the loss allowing two runs on four walks in 3.1 innings, striking out six. Jaden Eng tallied two RBIs on two hits and a walk, Tyton Peters added two RBIs on one hit, Tate Hammer had two hits and a walk while Alex Poitra totaled three hits in the loss.


Canton 7, Beresford Area 3

BERESFORD — Canton erupted for 10 hits to pull away from Beresford Area during Wednesday’s high school baseball action.

Jacoby Ulrikson led the C-Hawks with three hits, including a homer and three RBIs, W Greenwood added two RBIs on one hit, Theo Meister had two hits, one double, Espn Anderson tallied an RBI-single while Alex Opland drove in a run in the win. Ryder Thompson took the win on the mound allowing one run on three hits and two walks in three innings, striking out one.

For BA, Kasen Voss took the loss allowing seven runs on 10 hits and a walk in six innings, striking out three batters. Boston Jensen drove in a run on two hits and two walks while Noah Schoenfelder and Voss each tallied an RBI in the loss.


Parkston/Ethan 8, Scotland/Menno 4

PARKSTON — Parkston/Ethan hit two home runs as the Trojans knocked off Scotland/Menno for a high school baseball win Wednesday.

Jaxx Kurtenbach led the Trojans with three RBIs on two hits, including a home run and a double, Mason Jervik drove in two runs on a homer, Grady Bowar collected two hits and two RBIs, while Brycen Bruening hit an RBI-single in the win. Bowar took the win on the mound in 6.1 innings of work, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk, striking out four.

For SM, Erick Buechler took the loss, surrendering five runs on six hits and two walks in five innings, striking out two. Luke Bierle batted 3-for-4, Lane Pavel added two hits, Buechler totaled two RBIs on one hit, Riley Keppen added two hits and an RBI while Garret Lehr had an RBI-single in the loss.


Tri-Valley 13, Elkton-Lake Benton 0 (6 innings)

ELKTON — Evan Focken threw a complete game shutout as Tri-Valley blanked Elkton-Lake Benton in high school baseball action Wednesday.

Focken allowed just four hits and two walks in six shutout innings, fanning six batters. Lawson Schneiderman paced the Mustang offense with two hits, two walks and two RBIs, Cooper Durick and Tristen Bunde each added two hits and an RBI while Treyson Richter and Cole Hendrixson each drove in a run in the win.

For ELB, Jack Stein took the loss allowing two runs on two hits and three walks in four innings of relief, striking out one. Eliot Erickson, Colt Beck, Matthew Skime and Wyatt Osland each had hits in the loss.


Warner/Ipswich/Northwestern 4, Clark Area 2

NORTHVILLE — Quinn Huetl’s complete game on the mound guided Warner/Ipswich/Northwestern over Clark Area in high school baseball action Wednesday.

Huetl finished with seven complete innings on just 96 pitches, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out nine batters. Mac Heinz hit a solo homer while Cash Bahr added an RBI single in the win for Warner/Ipswich/Northwestern.

For Clark Area, Teague Stevenson took the loss allowing three runs on one hit and four walks in 1.2 innings, striking out two. Watson Grantham batted 3-for-3 with an RBI, Cooper Pommer had two hits, one double, while Charlie Luvaas added an RBI-single in the loss.


Madison/Chester 20, Deuel 0 (4 innings)

CLEAR LAKE — Madison/Chester exploded for 13 hits as the Bulldogs blanked Deuel in a mercy-rule high school baseball win Wednesday.

Braylon Oftedal powered the Bulldog bats with three hits and four RBIs, JD Prorok and Brock Olson each added two hits, a walk, and an RBI, Oakley Mees had two RBIs on a hit and a walk while Ryland Johnson, Darwin Corrales Gonzalez, Quincy Kurtz, Casyn Crabtree and Cohen Hahn each had an RBI on one hit, including a homer by Kurtz, in the win. Crabtree took the win on the mound in three shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out six.

For Deuel, Gabe Van Dyke took the loss allowing 13 runs on 10 hits and five walks in three innings, striking out five. Clark Decker totaled the lone hit of the game for the Cardinals.


Gillette (Wyo.) 8, Sturgis Brown 4

GILLETTE — Sturgis Brown fell to Gillette, Wyoming, in high school baseball action on Wednesday.

Brody Royer pitched five innings for the Scoopers, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks, striking out six. Royer drove in two runs on a triple in the win while Carson Williams added an RBi on two walks in the loss.
