Mitchell 5, Huron 1

MITCHELL — Carter McCormick tossed five shutout innings to power Mitchell over Huron in the first game of a high school baseball double header Thursday.

McCormick allowed just one hit and two walks in five shutout innings, striking out eight batters to take the win on the mound.

Stratton Forst drove in two runs on one hit, Canon Moller added an RBI while Ian Weber had two hits for the Kernels.

For Huron, Tommie Martin took the loss allowing five unearned runs on four hits and five walks in five innings, striking out two. Chase Schuchhardt drove in the lone run of the game for Huron.


Mitchell 2, Huron 1

MITCHELL — Ian Weber’s walk-off triple pushed Mitchell over Huron in the second game of Thursday’s high school baseball double header.

Weber finished with two hits, including the walk-off triple for the Kernels. Stratton Forst added an RBI on one hit while five other players recorded hits in the win.

Kaiden Allen tossed six strong innings for Mitchell, allowing one unearned run on four hits and three walks, striking out six.

For Huron, Nolan Stahly took the loss allowing two runs on one eight hits and a walk in 6.1 innings, striking out two.

Parker Bischoff drove in a run in the win while Tyce Huber added two hits for Huron in the loss.


Madison/Chester 4, Beresford Area 0

MADISON — JD Prorok tossed 13 strikeouts as Madison/Chester blanked Beresford Area in high school baseball action Thursday.

Prorok allowed just one hit and one walk in an 86-pitch complete game, striking out 13 along the way. Cohen Hahn and Darwin Corrales Gonzalez each had two hits and an RBI in the win while Quincy Kurtz added an RBI-single for the Bulldogs.

For BA, Evan Rosheim allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings, striking out five to take the loss. Boston Jensen tallied the only hit of the game for Beresford Area.


Dell Rapids 15, Baltic 0 (3 innings)

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids recorded eight hits and drew 10 walks to blank Baltic in high school baseball action Thursday.

Gauge Bunkers led the offense for DR with three RBIs on two hits, including a double, Thomas LaVoy added two RBIs on one hit, Jackson Peppel and Lincoln LeBrun each drove in a run on a hit and a combined three walks while Rhett Thoreson and Jake Heinitz each had an RBI on a walk in the win.

Bunkers earned the victory on the mound in three shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out four.

For Baltic, Elias Oakley allowed 13 runs on seven hits and seven walks in 2.2 innings, striking out three. Cale Roach tallied the only hit of the game for Baltic.


Bon Homme 8, Scotland/Menno 1

TYNDALL — Madden Merkwan tossed six strong innings as Bon Homme pulled away from Scotland/Menno in high school baseball action Thursday.

Merkwan took the win on the mound allowing one unearned run on four hits and three walks, striking out six in six innings.

Isaiah Crownover and Ethan Wagner each had two RBIs on one hit, including a double by Crownover, Alex Adler and Carter Smith each drove in a run on one hit while Cooper Mudder had two hits and a walk for the Cavaliers.

For SM, Lane Pavel took the loss allowing four runs on four hits and seven walks in three innings, striking out three. Pavel drove in the lone run of the game on one hit in the loss.


St. Thomas More 15, Hot Springs 4 (5 innings)

RAPID CITY — St. Thomas More exploded for 12 hits and eight walks to beat Hot Springs in mercy-rule fashion Thursday.

Isaiah Quasney led the Cavalier offense with six RBIs on three hits, including a double, Joe Giacametto drove in two runs on a homer and two walks, Rush Turner had two hits and an RBI while Carter Kemp and Charles Rangel each had a hit, walk, and an RBI in the win.

Turner took the win on the mound in five innings of work, allowing four runs on two hits and two walks, striking out five.

For HS, Nikolas Cruz took the loss in two innings pitched, allowing 10 runs on six hits and six walks, striking out three.

Jeremiah Melton drove in a run on a triple and a walk while Jaydon Koffler and York Naze each had RBIs in the loss. 


Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman 9, Miller/Highmore-Harrold/Wolsey-Wessington/Wessington Springs/Faulkton Area 3

CHAMBERLAIN — Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman erupted for 11 hits and seven walks to beat Miller/Highmore-Harrold/Wolsey-Wessington/Wessington Springs/Faulkton Area in high school baseball action Tuesday.

Conway Collins and Johnny Lenz each had three hits, combining for three RBIs in the win. Kruse Brennan added two hits while Hunter Frederick tallied two hits and an RBI for CKL.

Cannon Speer tossed five innings for CKL, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out four.

For M/H-H/W-W/WS/FA, Jett Kleinsasser allowed eight runs on eight hits and seven walks in 4.2 innings, striking out two in the loss.

Kleinsasser drove in two runs on a double and a walk, Dillan Otto added two hits and an RBI while Chase Hurd and Eddie Fritzsche each tallied two hits in the loss.


Tri-Valley 18, Garretson 3 (5 innings)

GARRETSON — Brody Dybvig drove in seven runs as Tri-Valley ran away from Garretson for a high school baseball win Thursday.

Dybvig led the Mustangs with two hits, a triple, walk, and seven RBIs, Cooper Durick added a double, triple and four RBIs, Tristen Bunde totaled two hits, a walk, and two RBis while Mason Hemme and Cole Hendrixson each drove in a run on one hit. Parker Hemme added an RBI on two walks as well.

Dybvig took the win on the mound in 2.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits and four walks, striking out four.

For Garretson, Colton Buchholz allowed 11 runs on eight hits and three walks in 3.2 innings, striking out five. Ty VanHolland drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Jack Adler added an RBI on three walks while Thor Zell had an RBI-single in the loss. 


Dakota Valley 11, Tri-County 1 (5 innings)

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Sterling Schauff’s complete-game on the mound powered Dakota Valley over Tri-County in high school baseball action Thursday.

Schauff allowed one unearned run on four hits and two walks in five innings, striking out seven batters. Noah Graham and Grady Ramos each tallied two RBIs on two hits, including a double by Ramos, Vincent Hoffman had two RBIs on a hit, Tyler Kloucek had two hits while Jake Pick added two hits and an RBI in the win.

For TC, Caiden Wherry took the loss in 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on five hits and four walks, striking out five. Jeremiah Gustad had three hits and an RBI in the loss for Tri-County.


Watertown 10, Tea Area 0 (5 innings)

WATERTOWN — Watertown erupted for 11 hits in five innings to take care of Tea Area in five innings during Thursday’s high school baseball action.

Kooper Heiser launched a three-run homer in the win, Cole Hansen and Cain Everson each had an RBI on two hits, Markus Pitkin, Carter Buisker, Jackson McClemans and Ashton Rabine each had an RBI on one hit while Jaxon Falak added two hits in the win.

Hunter Halajian took the win on the mound in five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out five.

For TA, Ethan Knettel took the loss allowing 10 runs on 11 hits and two walks in 4.2 innings, striking out two. Avery Hangman tallied the only hit of the game for the Titans.


Watertown 6, Tea Area 4

WATERTOWN — Watertown held off Tea Area to sweep the Titans in a high school baseball double header Thursday.

Jackson McClemans tossed three innings for Watertown, allowing four runs on four hits and five walks, striking out seven batters.

Jaxon Falak drove in two runs on a double and two walks, Carter Buisker added two hits, a double, and a walk while Markus Pitkin netted a hit and two walks in the win.

For TA, Zach Pies led the pitching effort allowing just one run on two hits and four walks in 3.1 innings, striking out four.

Tyson Gilbert drove in one run on a hit and a walk, Ethan Knettel added an RBI-single while Blake Gabbert had an RBI on a walk in the loss.


Harrisburg 7, Sioux Falls Jefferson 3

HARRISBURG — Kade Wede struck out 13 batters as Harrisburg defeated Sioux Falls Jefferson during Thursday’s high school baseball action.

Wede struck out 13 batters in six innings of work, allowing just one run on five hits.

Bryson Esser paced the Tigers with four RBIs on two homers, Wyatt Witwicki added two RBIs on a double while Noah Rutten scored one on a hit and a walk as well.

For Jefferson, Everett Salonen took the loss allowing five runs on three hits and five walks in four innings of work, striking out six.

Boston Bryant tallied two hits while Maddox Zens and Jackson Dunn each drove in a run in the loss.


O’Gorman 7, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 2

SIOUX FALLS — O’Gorman’s offense erupted for 11 hits to beat Sioux Falls Roosevelt in high school baseball action Thursday.

Talec Schlimgen led the Knights offense with three hits, Bennett Duncan added two hits, a double, and two RBIs, Parker Scheidt added two hits and an RBi while Gavin Hammrich recorded an RBI on a hit and a walk in the win.

Isaac Tobin took the win on the mound in 4.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out five.

For Roosevelt, Karl Hartmann took the loss allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks in four innings of work, striking out four.

Tucker DeHaan had two hits and a walk in the loss for the Rough Riders.


Pierre 15, Aberdeen 11

ABERDEEN — Pierre outlasted Aberdeen in a high-scoring marathon during the first game of a high school baseball double header Thursday.

Brennan McCullough took the win on the mound in 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out two.

Bridger Babcock tallied two RBIs on two hits and a walk for the Governors, Aydan Johnson drove in three runs on a triple, Hudson Shaffer tallied two RBIs on a hit and three walks, Parker O’Bryan added an RBI on a hit and a walk, Brecken Fuhrman drove in two runs while Tripp Lindekugel totaled three hits and a walk in the win.

For Aberdeen, Wheeler Malsam took the loss in three innings of work, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out two.

Jackson Post batted 4-for-5 with three RBIs for the Smittys, Levi Hoffman had two RBIs on two hits, including a homer, Will Haskell added two RBIs on a double, Jehiel Aviles and Ridley Waldo each had two hits and an RBI while Joe Cogley netted three hits, a walk, and an RBI in the loss.

 

Pierre 14, Aberdeen 8

ABERDEEN — Pierre erupted for 12 hits and 11 walks to outlast Aberdeen for a high school baseball doubleheader sweep Thursday.

Jackson Goodman and Parker O’Bryan each had two hits and two RBIs, Sutton Sonnenschein added a triple, two walks and two RBIs, Brecken Fuhrman tallied two hits, two walks and an RBI while Hudson Stoeser drove in a run on one hit in the win.

Maddox Dokken pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk, striking out eight for Pierre.

For Aberdeen, Ridley Waldo pitched 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on six hits and a walk, striking out two.

Levi Hoffman tallied two hits, Joe Cogley brought in two runs on a hit and a walk, Jackson Post tallied an RBI-triple while Waldo drove in a run on two walks in the loss.


Sioux Falls Washington 13, Sioux Falls Lincoln 10

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Washington collected 12 hits and 11 walks to outlast Sioux Falls Lincoln for a high school baseball win Thursday.

Tyler Ringheimer led the Warriors batting 4-for-5 with two doubles, a walk, and three RBIs, Caden Sporrer added two hits and three RBIs, Caleb Bumann tallied three RBIs on two hits, a double and two walks, Brekken Biteler drove in a run on four walks while Kylar White added an RBI on a double, triple and a walk in the win.

White took the win on the mound in 3.1 innings, allowing one unearned run on two walks, striking out six.

For Lincoln, Jack Robbins took the loss allowing four runs on two walks and two hit batsmen in 0.1 innings, striking out one.

Cooper Hicks tallied two hits, a double and triple, driving in a run, Opland Sonnichsen and Murphy Eisenberg each drove in a run on one hit, Jude Timat added two walks and an RBI while Jacksyn Raak recorded two RBIs on a hit and a walk in the loss.
