Renner Monarchs 7, Harrisburg Woodies 1 (15 innings)

BRANDON — Renner pieced together a six-run run inning in the 15th, outlasting Harrisburg to advance to Sunday’s state championship game.

Tony Lanier paced the Monarchs offense batting 6-for-8 with two RBIs, Mitch Stroh added three hits and an RBI, Josh Rosencranz collected three walks, a hit and an RBI, Aiden Ladd and Adam Durfee each added two hits and an RBI, while JT Mix and Maddux Baggs both recorded hits in the win. Jeremiah Mauch started the game for Renner allowed one run on three hits and one walk in eight innings, striking out 10 batters. Gage Sharping closed the victory in the 15th allowing one hit and one walk in his inning of relief.

For Harrisburg, Josh Baumgart took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk in 0.2 innings of relief. Nathan Motl tallied two hits while Riley Johnson, Dalton Lehnen, Maddux Scherer and Isaac Loosmore each had a hit in the loss.

Harrisburg will face Yankton or Brookings in the elimination semifinal at 1 p.m. Saturday.


Yankton Lakers 9, Tea Steam 0

VALLEY SPRINGS — Palmer Jacobs’ complete game shutout pushed Yankton over Tea in Friday’s elimination game.

Jacobs surrendered just five hits in nine shutout innings, striking out nine in the win. Will Rauch had three RBIs on one hit and one walk, Lucas Kampshoff recorded two RBIs on a hit and a walk, Josh Sheldon tallied two RBIs on a hit, Mac Ryken added two hits, a double, and an RBI, while Cade Sudbeck netted an RBI on a hit and two walks in the win as well.

For Tea, Cameron Jensen took the loss, allowing seven runs on four hits and three walks in 5.2 innings, striking out four. Sam Kampschoff, Trey Heckenlaible, Jaxon Haase, Nathan Babb and Logan Boom each collected a hit in the loss for the Steam.

Yankton will face Brookings in another elimination game Saturday at 11 a.m. in Brandon.


Brookings Cubs 7, Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar 3

BRANDON — Brookings scored seven unanswered runs to eliminate Aberdeen from the state tournament Friday.

Chase McDaniel tallied three hits and an RBI, Arlen Peters recorded a three-RBI double, Lincoln Vasgaard, Rhett Zelinsky and Noah Buss all tallied RBIs on a double, while Isaac Bonner and Justin Cofell each had two hits in the win. Logan Anderson took the win on the mound in five shutout innings of relief, allowing two hits and two walks, striking out six. 

For Aberdeen, Chad Ellingson took the loss, allowing six runs on 10 hits in seven innings, striking out five. Josh Steinwandt had an RBI on two hits, one double, Michael Babcock tallied two RBIs on a double while Casey Vining recorded two hits and a walk in the loss.

Brookings will match up with Yankton in another elimination game Saturday at 11 a.m. in Brandon.
