Renner Monarchs 5, Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 2

MITCHELL — A four-run fourth inning lifted Renner to the Class A state championship game Friday.

Dave Borchardt drove in two runs on two hits, Aiden Ladd had two RBIs on a single, Chaz Palmer tallied two hits, while Jaxon Rosencranz and Ryan Hander each tallied hits in the win.

Hander earned the victory on the mound, allowing one hit in five shutout innings, striking out eight.

For Sioux Falls, Stuart Baruth allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks in eight innings, striking out four.

Trevor Hurley tallied two hits, Connor Hurley drove in a run, while Jack Simonsen and Dylan Ades each tallied hits in the loss.

Renner moves on to the Class A state championship game on Sunday at 12 p.m., while Sioux Falls will move to the elimination semifinal game with the loss.


Aberdeen Circus 4, Yankton Tappers 2

MITCHELL — Chad Ellingson struck out eight batters as Aberdeen Circus advanced in State A amateur baseball action Friday.

Ellingson went all nine innings, allowing two runs on nine hits and three walks, striking out eight.

Casey Vining drove in a run on two hits, including a double and a triple, Jon Baker drove in two runs on a homer, Josh Steinwandt tallied two hits, Kelly Coates drove in a run on one hit, while Michael Babcock, Tyler Oliver, and Jesse Babcock each tallied hits in the win.

For Yankton, Kade Sudbeck took the loss allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk in nine innings, striking out six.

Mitch Gullickson drove in a run on two doubles, Mac Ryken tallied an RBI-single, Colin Zahrbock had two hits, including a triple, while Shugo Kondo, Will Rauch, Joe Gokie, and Lucas Kampshoff each tallied hits in the loss.

Aberdeen will face the Sioux Falls Brewers on Saturday at 11 a.m., while Yankton was eliminated from the State A tournament with the loss.


Sioux Falls Brewers 13, Brookings Cubs 6

MITCHELL — Sam Baier, Joe Kolbeck, and Andrew Glovich each drove in three runs as the Sioux Falls Brewers defeated Brookings in a State A elimination game Friday.

Baier drove in three runs on a double  and a walk, Kolbeck had three RBIs on a homer and a walk, Glovich tallied three RBIs on three hits, a double, and a walk, while Sam Siegel drove in two runs on two hits, a double, and two walks in the win.

Riley Johnson tallied an RBI on two hits, while Drue Soukup and Charlie Dubanoski each tallied hits in the victory.

Glovich allowed five runs on 10 hits and a walk in six innings, striking out five.

For Brookings, Peyton Mandel surrendered six runs on nine hits and a walk in seven innings, striking out three.

Chase McDaniel had four hits, a homer, and two RBIs, Colin Gipson tallied three hits, two home runs, a walk, and three RBIs, Hammrich Hammrich tallied an RBI on a solo homer while also cracking a double in the loss.

The Sioux Falls Brewers will face Aberdeen Saturday at 11 a.m., while Brookings is eliminated from the tournament with the loss.
