Harrisburg Woodies 13, Yankton Lakers 3 (8 innings)

BRANDON — Harrisburg outscored Yankton 12-1 through the first five innings to take a mercy rule win over the Lakers, advancing to the Class A state championship.

Mark Abrahamson had three RBIs on two hits and a walk, including a double and a homer, Maddux Scherer totaled two runs on two hits and a walk, Trey Hofer, Dalton Lehnen and Riley Johnson each had an RBI on one hit while Nathan Motl added a hit and two walks in the win. Lehnen took the victory on the mound in seven innings of his start, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out 12.

For Yankton, Beck Ryken allowed five runs on five hits and one walk in one inning to take the loss. Lucas Kampshoff drove in a run on one hit and one walk, Shugo Kondo recorded two hits and an RBI while Drew Ryken had two hits in the loss.

The Woodies take on Renner in the Class A state championship Sunday at noon. It’s a rematch from the semifinals Friday, with the Monarchs winning, 7-1, in 15 innings.


Yankton Lakers 5, Brookings Cubs 3

BRANDON — A four-run eighth inning pushed Yankton over Brookings in the first game of the state tournament Saturday.

Lucas Kampshoff had two hits, a walk and an RBI, Mac Ryken recorded an RBI on one hit while WIll Rauch tallied two walks and one hit in the win. Kampshoff took the win on the mound in four innings, allowing one run on three hits.

For Brookings, Lincoln Vasgaard allowed four runs on two hits and two walks in one inning of relief. Parker Winghart and Justin Cofell each drove in a run on one hit while Noah Buss added an RBI on two hits. Cofell and Buss each homered in the loss as well.
